2-year Blues...Your Help is Needed!
In May it will have already been TWO years since my bypass...I can hardly believe it!! I have since lost 100#'s. I was at about a 109#'s lost but depending on the time of the month and gradual pounds floating back on I seemed to have gained some back.
I AM however, worried about the foods I've gotten away with eating and possibly stretching out my pouch (how do you know if you have/are?).
I am wondering what others have done to get back on track. To get back to the "glory days" when it seemed like a Lean Cuisine was torture to finish. When eating a jelly bean made you go into a rage of dumping syndrome??
I seemed to have lost my way and need some tips on getting back to where I would like to be. Any cleansing diets you've done or tips would be appreciated. I realize some major self-control is in order now as before it was easy to stay away but now I get away with popcorn each night, a bottle of beer, sometimes larger portions than I know I should fit in my pouch, jelly beans, wheat thins, latte's up the wazoo...
HELP!!!!

I'm guessing you know exactly what you NEED to do, the issue is how to re-focus or re-commit to DOING IT.
We all got a laundry list of rules to follow when we had our WLS. Once we start testing the waters and get further and further away from the newness of our tool, it DOES get more difficult to follow those rules. But I doubt any of us have forgotten them.
The last thing you want to do is get back on the "diet" rollercoaster. That would utterly defeat the purpose of having this tool given to us surgically. Just re-think your relationship with foods. Say goodbye to the things you know you shouldn't have. Measure your food again, to see how much your perspective on what a cup looks like may have changed.
And for the record, this is me, talking to myself, too.

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Wow! I'm so glad to see you pop in and update. 2 years, holy cow! Doesn't it seem like yesterday in some respects?
I remember hearing a lot about the 5 day pouch test for RNY'ers also. Maybe that is an option for you. You could post here and the RNY main board with that as your title and I bet some good OH folks could help you along and be a support system for 5 days with you.
There's also something associated with cottage cheese to measure the size of your pouch, but I cannot exactly remember how that works. Maybe a RNY vet can help you out with that one.
Now, about the beer...just as long as your not drinking a case of it to get your drunk on, can you switch to one of the lower carb beers or use it as a reward (exercise 30 min. a day for 3 days = 1 beer)? Given the tendency for post WLS peeps to have a post surgical addiction, just be aware of how much your consuming, that's all. Friendly reminder.
And how about your profile? I think you definitely need to update with pics at least!!
You ready to get back on track? I know you can do it!! Just have faith in your self and you will do great.
