Pureed not agreeing with me??
I have been having problems eating since Friday night. I first thought it was the canned ham and mayo (the first time I tried it). I only got about 1.5 oz in, and couldn't eat more than 2 baby spoon bites of mashed potatoes and baby food fruit. On Saturday morning, I made my oatmeal which was tasting soooo good. I got maybe an ounce into me, and I just didn't feel right. I stopped eating and focused on drinking. At lunch Saturday, I tried the ham again with the same problem. I got down about 1 oz, and that was it. I couldn't even get a spoonful of potatoes or fruit down. I had a protein shake that afternoon, and that went down well.
Last night my hubby and I were meeting up with the south of the river coffee support group. I was feeling really dizzy before we left, but it passed, or so I thought. I was nauseous the entire way to Burnsville. When we got to the gathering, the nausea was still there, and the dizziness was back. I just drank my crystal lite, and chilled out. It finally passed about an hour later, so I decided to eat with everyone. I had made canned chicken with mayo, which had gone down better than any of my other pureed meals so far. I got about .5 oz into it, and I felt awful. I was so nauseous I thought it was coming back up. I stopped eating, and just tried to wait it out. Melissa finally told me to drink some water to try to wa**** out. I slowly sipped, and after about an hour the nausea passed. The dizziness was still there though.
I work up with the nausea again this morning, even though I hadn't eaten anything. I am going to go back to full liquid today, to see if I can at least get that down.
Is this normal, or should I be worried? I am only 17 days out, so I know my stomach is still trying to adjust. I'm not sure if I should be calling my clinic, or just keep trying the pureed tomorrow?
Thanks for any advice,

I tried having some pudding this morning, and I was only able to get in about .5 oz. I feel so week and tired, I finally called in. The doctor on call was Dr. Pierce, one of the surgeons from my WLC. He said to go back to clear liquids today, and focus on fluid. He said that the exhaustion, nausea, and dizziness sound like they could be from dehydration.
I'm supposed to call in to the clinic tomorrow, and let them know how I'm doing. Seeing as I can barely move I'm so exhausted right now, I don't think they can get much worse. I did the skin pull on my hand, and it took a second or so to go back down. I think Dr. Pierce is correct, I am getting a little dehydrated.
I am trying to force as much liquid into me, but I feel so crappy it's hard.
Thanks for your advice.
Marsha, I meant what I said, you are absolutely gorgeous! I only hope that I can look half as good as you when I've lost my weight.

Nicole,
I just started pureed as well and while I didn't have a problem with getting it down, within a few hours of supper I started having pain again on my lower left abdomen around to my back. The only thing that was different yesterday was my diet...so I'm making that association.
I plan to be very careful today and see what happens.
I hope it's better for you today!

I can't eat Mayo or Miricle whip, makes me sick......Could it have been that?
Stick to the food that your doctor told you to eat......
Every plan is different, but on my pureed stage this is what they said to eat:
Plain or lite fruit yogurt
Fat free cottage cheese
SF pudding
pureed meat
Cooked cereal, cream of wheat or malt o meal
pureed green beans, squash, mashed potatoes
unsweetened applesauce, peaches, bananas
Good luck....Call your Doctor if it persists...

I had a terrible time trying to get food in that first month. You sound just like I did. I just ate broth, which agreed with me and did liquids. I still have days or times I have to force myself to eat because nothing sounds good and just thinking about eating makes me queasy. Keep in touch with the WLS and give it time. It should get better. Big hugs to you because I've been there and know how much it stinks to feel that way.
Yes, Sarsha is a babe! I agree!
