Hello from North Carolina!
Hello everyone!
It has been just over a year since I moved to North Carolina and I must admit that I truely miss all of you and the wonderful coffees and support groups I had come to count on. I have yet to find any sort of bariatric support here including a bariatric doc to follow up with. One of the results of this lack of support has been re-gaining weight, which I am trying to lose again, but alas it is a lot more difficult to lose the 2nd time around.
I hope y'all are doing well and I will try to get in here a bit more and hopefully get the support I once had through the web!
Hugs!
Nicole

miss you too, cutie-hope that you find a group there. have you been posting on the NC board at all? I know that the boards are'nt all as active as we are, but it doesn't hurt! keep up with us here, too-there are a lot of us in the same boat of trying to get off that regain.....grrrrrr.
take care!

At one point I was told that the hospital here has a meeting, but at the same time it was never communicated if it was a closed meeting and feeling I got from their bariatric unit was not very welcoming...and all of the other locations in NC are at least 2-3 hours away.
I have not been on the boards at all lately, which I attribute to the guilt of having regained weight. I know one of my problems is something that you had mentioned at a support group meeting...drinking diet soda...once you start it is soooo hard to stop! I also have to find a descent place to work out since the roads here have no shoulders which makes it very hard to just go out and walk/run when I get home from work. On the plus side my "step-daughter" aka my boyfriends daughter, wants to workout with me and while she is tiny it will be nice to have a workout partner.
I hope all is going well for you and I will do my best to check in here a lot more!

I am fighting the added weight along with several others here....it sure is harder to lose the second time around!!!
Glad you have someone to workout with...that helps.
You are missed here in MN but it sounds like you are doing well there. Post here anytime you want. You are still part of our board....no matter where you are!!

Thank you Connie! I miss all of you too, but I have to admit that I am very, very happy here in NC. I finally have a healthy relationship and have my life going in the right direction to reach my life goals...now to just get the rest of this weight off! I am hoping to stop in here a few times a week depending on how crazy my schedule gets as I change jobs next week.
I hope you and your family are all doing well!
Big Hugs!

I can't believe it's been over a year! Wow, time has been flying by! Happy to hear that all is going well for you in the relationship department. As for the weight gain...welcome to my world. I'm up a size to a size and a half and I'm not happy about it, but not motivated enough to make changes. I'm getting more exercise now that the weather is nicer, but also eating more, so the weight has been maintaining at the "extra" side. I only go to coffee support now, and for a while, it was getting to be more of a gossip group until recently. Now we talk so much more about our journey, bring in new information, set goals and as the weather gets nicer....starting to walk, ride bike, and other activities.
Take care and I hope you find the movitation once again.

2014 update...regained but haven't lost faith.
Edi,
I totally understand the maintaining through a change in exercise, but not eating that has been part of my problem and then when cir****tances cause the exercise to stop the gain begins again. I am beginning eat healthier foods and listen to my body more about when to stop so I am haoping I can start to move back to the eating habits I need to be at.
I am glad to hear that you have found healthy support at the coffee groups again since there is such a temptation for them to turn into a gossip session rather than a true support group. I had stopped attending the Park Nicollett support groups prior to leaving due to the changes and other issues in my life, but have found a group here in Asheville that is open to all those sho have had bariatric surgery so I may go and check it out.
I hope things continue to go well for you and to chat more here on OH!
