Umm do any of you have problems with bats???
Yep I **** my pants last night............ We have had problems with bats in our house we have been here for 10 years now..........at first we didn't have any and then they started one here one there............... Well last night I went to sweep water in our basement (yes we have water in our basement) well half way down the stairs one flew at me and I damn there **** my pants.........I am so not good with that. I got my hubby and he went down there, but couldn't find it. So have any of you ever needed a bat person? I hope the darn thing don't come out when I have kids here Because I would have to yell FIRE to get them all out..............Well lets see what today brings huh..................
two things I can think of.
Sounds insane since you HATE bats, but if you give them a place of their own outside, they'll often prefer that to your house. There are "bat houses" you can buy and erect in your yard, or plans for building your own. The added bonus to putting one of these babies up is that bats are like nature's mosquito zappers! One bat can eat up to 1,000 mosquitos in an hour! And a well-built house can be home for over 50 bats. Do the math: bat house = fewer skeeters.

However, if you're not feeling so friendly, I have seen cabins with small oil pots hung just below access points on their siding. You have to identify WHERE the bats are coming in, which is pretty tricky, since they can fit through a space smaller than the size of a nickle. But if you find access points, the bats have to drop before they can spread their wings and fly. If you hang an oil pot just under that hole, when they go to exit your house they drop into the oil and can no longer fly. It's nasty, cruel and inhumane, but not everyone gives a bat's ass.

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
I rented a house in S. Mpls a few years ago and it got bats. Like more than one and I one night it woke me up during the night flying above me in the bedroom!!
YIKKES.... I hate bats and now I hate them even more!!! I moved out within a month.
The landlord did hire an exterminator company; to inspect/seal/contain the little buggers. I never felt safe again.
Flying around while you are sleeping is not cool; they say even if they scratch your skin you may need to go through the rabies shots. I called the Center for Disease Control and Prevention; because I just didn't know how long that bat could have been flying around me or GOD-FORBID landed on me!!
EWWWW... I still get shivers thinking about it!!!
Good Luck

I just happened to see an episode of "Billy the Exterminator" a few days ago. I know, mindless tv, but that whole exterminator family fascinates me. He said you need to go outside and find the piles of bat guano to see where they are coming in/going out. Then he went to the attic and sprayed them with a dish soap/water mix so they flew back out. Seal up the hole from the outside. Probably a job for a professional.
Years ago, I woke up to one of my cats screeching and howling. I turned on the light and he had a bat attached to his paw biting him. By the time I got a broom, the darn thing was gone. I had to move out because I was afraid bats were lurking in closets and cupboards.
A good friend has bat houses and she loves them. They have left her home alone since she put them up. Try that, but see if there's a way to seal your house up after they move to the new condo. Good luck!
