Well, had my surgery on Monday (RNY)
Came home yesterday. I am sore! Which is to be expected since I just had surgery.

Have a few questions though, I have the burps like you would not believe. Even after surgery I felt I always had to burp but couldn't. Today though it seems like I've been burping more. Had about 2oz of chicken cream soup (well strained) and that went down OK.
Today I just been having Isopure water. I am not hungry and don't want to eat anything, worried I might get sick

My dr wants me to get 64 oz of fluid in, 48 at the bare minium. So far today I've only had 20oz of Isopure and 2 oz of chicken cream soup. Ugh!

Also another question, Since surgery I had this off and on pain on my left side. It starts under my breast and up around to my shoulder. Told the nurses and they all thought it was gas. I've been walking and walking (as much as I can) doesn't seem to want to move. Sometimes it feels like a weight on my chest and then it goes away.
I was thinking heartburn???? Is that common???

Good news, my pre-surgery weight was 31 pounds smaller than the first time I went in to start my journey of weight loss 3 months ago! So that is good!

Congrats on your surgery.....

As far as the pain, it sounds like gas....It can last a few days....The more you walk around the better....If it persists, I would call in.....

I know every surgeon is different, but are you supposed to have creamed soups already? I wasn't allowed to have that till week 3? I was only allowed broth or jello, etc.....

Burps? Not sure on that.....

I couldn't get in my water either.....I usually got 40 oz. in my 1st week, after that 48oz. and then 64oz.......Remember SF popscicles count towards water intake, I think 2oz......

Welcome to the "Loosers bench."

Good luck, Kelly

Yep, I was surprised on the cream chicken soup, but yes I tripled checked and on day 2 I can start creamed soups, as long as there are no chucks. I was told I could also have a bit of yogurt, with no chucks, but I am going to wait on that.

The surgeon's office is suppose to call me tomorrow for an update. I think I will mention the shoulder pain to them again and see what they say.

We started on full liquids (pureed and strained cream soups, etc.) on day 2 also.  It's different for different doctors.

The 64 is ideal - a sip at a time - but at first it's difficult.  It gets easier.

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY!  Working on the next 25.  Then I'll tackle more...

Congrats on surgery.  I was really sore too.  It takes several days for the gas to leave your body.  they pump up your belly so they can work during surgery.  So keep moving, it helps.

I still struggle some days to get the right amount of liquid in, but keep working on it, you'll get there.

Hope you have a speedy recovery and steady loss!

You will be feeling better in no time!  Hang in there!  I know at that point I didn't feel like I was ever going to want to eat anything ever again.  You'll feel better in no time!  Just take it easy!

Congratulations on your surgery.  I had my surgery on March 4, and i still have some discomfort.  We do full liquid diet starting on day 2 as well.  I just finished my 2 weeks full liquid, and had my first pureeed dinner today.

I still struggle with getting the water in right now.  Keep at it, and you will do fine.  As for being hungry, I'm not either.  I find I have to force myself to eat three times a day.  My protein shakes go down much easier.

Congrats on the weight loss so far, but it's only the beginning.

When you talk to your doctor, see if you can take the Gas-X strips that melt in your mouth. It will make you feel a bajillion times better. Clear it with him first though!

Please spay and neuter your pets!

 Thanks everyone.

I will ask about those gas-x strips.
I woke up today feeling a bit better pain wise, but I woke up with what felt like heartburn. I have had heartburn issues in the past and that is what it felt like

The nurse is scheduled to call me today sometime to check in on me, I am going to mention it to her and see what she has to say about it.

Having a protein shake for breakfast and it is going down good. Yeah!
