Hang in there! The BEST is yet to come. I love your "On the bright side" tidbits! You have to have that attitude during this healing and shedding process. Again, you made the first HUGE step and I know you will do great. I am going to be at bville coffee Sat.

It amazes me the medical field has so much confusion and wrong answers.  Hospitals are crazy places, IMHO.

Glad you are home, where you can heal and get well and start enjoying the GOOD part of the journey - melting away!

Welcome home!!! I don't know what I would have done but that really ****** me off that they can treat patients like that.  I think i would have been really *****ING!
Glad your home and maybe  now you will feel much better.

Nicole I was just looking to see if they'd sprung you yet.  I am so sorry that your hospital stay sucked so badly!  I was there and had Dr Benn, he's not a real social guy, but he absolutely stuck with me when I had the internal bleeding.  I loved him.  I had good nurses, except for one night nurse.

I am so glad that you are home and loving it.  Do NOT worry about your weight, it will start to come off.  Your body has had a huge shock and a ton of fluids (not to mention the GAS )  it will happen.

Maybe see you at coffee on Saturday.

I'm glad you are home!  It is NO fun being in the hosp.  I wonder if we all had the same night nurse.  I had one that wouldn't give me any pain meds and I went 81/2 hours without pain meds 1 day out of surgery.  Crazy.  I've worked in a hospital and have high expectations but I wasn't super impressed.  On the other hand, I just had surgery again at Unity and was impressed at how comfortable I was kept.  Interesting to say the least.
I hope all goes well and that extra ten pounds is jus****er weight and will burn away quickly!  It happens very quickly so HANG ON!

My husband has been saying he thinks not enough attention is paid to the personality of nurses.  He probably had a better picture than I did because I was out of it.  He said he didn't like many of the nurses- there was a nurse in training he liked- but everyone else took a really long time to get there when I pushed the button- he said 45 min sometimes.   With all of or experiences I'm not sure I'd recommend this hospital!  everything is different though... could be a whole different experience for someone else...

Hey Nicole,
I hope that you are doing better now....sorry to hear that you had so much problems with your stay.  It's great that your surgeon was more attentive than the nurses.  If anything, you might want to just fire off a note to the hospital (and the Director of Nursing), to let them know of the quality of care provided.  Especially for the one that did a good job.  I am a firm believer in giving kudos when needed.
Believe it or not, the gas will go away!!! And you will drop the water weight in the next week or two.  Hang in there, you will not be disappointed!  You have had the bad, now will come the good part...
Good thoughts and wishes for a fast recovery! Lena
