I've started the 'Couch to 5k'!!

I started the Couch to 5K last Wed.  We signed up for the Autism 5K.  I doing so workout classes, but had a couple of weeks off.  It is amazing how quickly you can go to feeling somewhat in shape and then go in to hit the treadmill and be exhausted after 15 mins.  I had also gotten halfway through and thought this is going to be tough.  It's great and I will stay on schedule - I have never been a runner, but I really needed a goal to start working towards again.  I had my weight loss surgery and was down to my goal weight for 3 1/2 years and then my father passed - I think  the stress of this made me fall into some really bad eating habits and eating to make me feel better.  I am up in weight and want to lose it again, but most importantly get in shape.  1 1/2 years ago I could run 2 miles outside in the summer and enjoy it, now the treadmill kicks my butt.  Congrats on taking this awesome new journey!!!

Yeah, it's amazing how you can feel pretty in shape (doing aerobic classes or walking on the treadmill & stuff) and then get so tuckered out 1/2 way through doing that program!  But I love having a goal to work towards, each week getting closer & closer to being able to jog a 5k!!  The 1st 5k I'm doing with friends is in 6 weeks, so I won't be completely through the program by then, but I figure since it's a walk/run 5k I should be able to at least 1/2 walk it & 1/2 jog it by then (hopefully).

When is your Autism 5k?  I have a couple other friends doing that one too, I just didn't know the date.  What a great cause & it gives you a goal date to work towards!!
