I've started the 'Couch to 5k'!!
A group of people from my Saturday morning coffee are doing a 5k in April (more details to follow), and even though it's a walk/run 5k, I thought I'd give the training for the 'Couch to 5k' a try for extra motivation for me to workout & a goal to work towards. I started Week 1, Day 1 yesterday. It definitely wasn't easy since I haven't been working out on a regular basis since being sick a few weeks back. About 1/2 way through I thought, "I may not make it through this whole thing", but I DID!!!
Not sure if anyone else is struggling to get on a regular workout program like I am, but finding a goal to work towards (whether it's the 'Couch to 5k' or something else) can really help you get started. It's definitely helping get me motivated to get back to the gym on a regular basis, now that I have something to work towards.
p.s.
And if anyone else would like to do this with me just let me know & we can email each other or something to let each othe know how we're doing & help each other stay on track (if you'd like).![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/cool2.gif)

The 'Couch to 5k' is a program that can literally help you get from sitting on the couch to running a 5k in 9 weeks. If you search online, on sites such as
http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
they will give you a program to follow each week (3 times a week) that will get you ready to run in a 5k in 9 weeks. Even though I've been exercising some, I have not been jogging at all, so I thought this would be a good way to get me started plus it has the program to follow along with.
Congrats on running the 5k & half marathon coming up, that'll be amazing! And I'm definitely here to support you if you need it!!![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/biggrin2.gif)

I am doing just the free basic program off of the site. There are different ones that you can use that are set to music & stuff, so it just depends on what will work for you. I just needed the info on how long I was supposed to walk & jog & then I just went to my gym & jumped on a treadmill. It's going good so far. I'm not a jogger, so definitely going from being a "walker" to a "partial jogger" it got a little tough about 1/2 way through, but I was always so proud of myself once I got it completed! And I love that you only have to commit to 3 days a week! I hope to get into the gym more days than that, but if I can't at least I'm still sticking to the program!
Plus, once the weather is nicer (no more of this rain) my family takes nightly bike rides & does more things outside instead of inside the gym setting so much, so I may incorporate the program inside or outside the gym, which is nice to have that flexibility. ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/cool2.gif)
