Hey everyone -

Took me some time, but I found Minnesota Message Boards!

I am having RNY surgery on 3/16 - just started my liquid diet today - so far so good.  Although food really smells nummy around work today!

I hope to find some friends to help me through my journey - that can understand what I am doing and going through.  I have a mixed group at work, some support while others say I am taking the easy road and are just totally against it.

Thanks for reading and hope to talk to people.

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery!!!    I'm glad you found us on the MN boards.  Not sure if you're able to make it out early on Saturday mornings or not, but a group of us meets every Saturday morning (south of the river) at 8:30am til' around 10:30am.  There's usually anywhere from 10-20 of us that meet each week & we're at varying stages of WLS; some pre-op like yourself & some post-op.  It's a wonderful way to meet more people that are going through what you are, get additional support, and ask any questions you may have.  We'll be meeting in Eagan this Saturday at the Caribou coffee inside Byerly's.

I'm excited for you & your upcoming surgery.  I'm 3 months post-op myself & I've loved my journey so far!  If you ever want to talk or have any questions definitely send me a message, I'm always here!!

Keep us posted on how you're doing both before & after your surgery.  The liquid diet part of things is no fun, but it'll go by real fast & your big day will be here before you know it!

Hey shooter welcome.  First of Congrats on your surgery date!!!  Second, we have all gone through the same responses you are getting at work.  Come to a coffee on Sat.  This Sat is Eagan Beyerly's Maple Grove Or south Saint Paul.  Next Sat is Panera outside the Burnsville center.  There is nothing better than the support from these coffee's.  It Energizes you every time and you meet some real friends.

Welcome.....Congrats on your upcoming surgery.....

Sugar Free popscicles really helped me through some tough times after surgery, plus they count as water intake.....

As the others said, there are plenty of coffee get togethers on Saturdays, come join one......

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!!

I am on day 3 of my liquid diet - and so far I am doing well!  Bonus for this is - I am already down 7 lbs!  yay  My guy and I walked a mile last night too - I had to really push myself, but I did it.

I am busy with getting things in order before surgery, and with my girls.  We are just completing a move back with my boyfriend (long story - ask me sometime!) lol   But I will certainly try to make a coffee saturday, I will be needing as much support as I can get.

Thanks again everyone - I will be here as much as I can as well.

ROCKYOURLD - you'll be glad you did! The incredible weight loss most people experience in that alone is an amazing motivator to ROCKYOURTOOLonce you're a post-op!

As for those who suggest you're taking the easy way out? I'll add a link here (once I can grab it) to give you a little perspective on that notion. Imean, in some ways?ItISeasierthan NOThaving WLS - we have an incredible tool to help us! But in many ways, it's a *****!Because we've lost our best friend, our handiest coping mechanism for life stresses. And we ALLhave life stresses.

So I say - blow 'em off. Do what you need to do for YOUfor once. We've all been so preoccupied with doing for others that we've always put ourselves last. NOMORE.

Hope to meet you at a coffee someday!
