Hi all-

I didn't get to post yesterday, it was an emotional hard day....Had to take my 11 year old Rott to the Vet to have this big lump the size of my hand looked at, it literally just popped out the top of her shoulder one day....It is not cancer but is a huge fatty tumor, The Vet believes she will last 3-4 months before the pain sets in from it effecting her organs etc. He thinks it will keep growing....So spoiling her, we will.....I can't imagine life without her, we've had her since she was 8 weeks old....

Anyhow, How are you moving today??

I'm doing my treadmill & home gym & sit up's......Just finishing my coffee and then downstairs I go.....:)

If you want, try doing as many sit up's as you can....Let me know how it goes, k? I'm really liking challenging myself everyday, to see if I can do just one more....

Aww Kelly I completely know how you feel!  We had to bring our 7 1/2yo boxer to the vet yesterday because she decided to stop eating and drinking water.  The vet thought that maybe she had an infection so they did x-rays, turns out she hurt her hip some how and it's causing her pain to get into the correct position to eat and drink and eliminate waste (she only has 3 legs-1 in front and 2 in back).  So they have her on an anti-inflamatory, but they also gave her an anti-biotic just in case and some doggie laxatives (the x-ray showed she was backed up) that smell like sunday morning breakfast (seriously my daughter asked if I was making pancakes for dinner).

Hopefully, they will be able to make ur pooch as comfortable as possible so you can have longer with her!

Also, good luck on the sit ups!  I'll see what I can do tonight when I get home.  My daughter thinks it's great fun to do our exercises (her's consist of jumping up and down the entire time I'm trying to do anything...well that or running from one end of the house to the other!)

Samantha,

Oh no....Sorry to hear that about your Boxer....Is she feeling better today?

Jumping up & down counts as exercise, LOL......Good luck with the sit up's, they kill your abs the first couple of times.....But then you know it's working....:)

I'm so sorry about your Rott.    Our animals are parts of our families & when they hurt we hurt too, so it must be really hard.  That's good that you're spoiling her & hopefully you can enjoy the next few months with her as much as possible.

Kelly, I'm so sorry to hear that your "baby" is not doing well.  We lost our two cats in the last year; one was 13 and the other 14.  I miss them so, but knew that they were too uncomfortable to go on. Because we know our pets and love them, we (and you)  will know when to make the hard decisions.

Situps. . . .baahhhh!    I tried to do them and no dice, I did two sets of 10 crunches.  Today I'm sore all across my belly under my ribs.   I'm going to try to keep up wth your challenges, but am basically a WUSS!   I've also avoided the gym after pullng both groin muscles on that leg spread thing.  Note to others:  Do NOT get on these without checking the weight.   I got on after a giant of a man and damn near ripped myself in half when the thing spread.    Owie!

Tuna,

Sorry to hear about your cats.....They are a part of our family.....

Awesome job on the crunches.....Oh ya, it gets the belly muscles, that just shows, it's working those muscles that you don't usually use.....Great job...
OUCH on the groin muscles.....

I'm so sorry about your poopie, Kelly.  It is hard having to make that decision for our beloved pets.  Having to put Otis down 5 years ago was SO HARD!  And Hazel, well, that poor girl has her hip problems - but she's not quite 5 years old yet, so she doesn't know when to take a chill pill and let the other doggies play hard without her.  She was in obvious pain last night after a visit from a neighborhood lab.  Our vet has us give her aspirin when she's hurting.  I call it aspirin sandwiches, 'cuz the easiest way to get her to take 5 baby aspirins is to spread a little peanut butter on a 1/2 slice of bread, stick the aspirins to it, fold it and YUMMY PUPPY TREAT!  Twice a day - but it sure helps her!

As for the exercise?  I'm SOOOO not good about that.  Not a slug, but not into formal exercise, either.  But I do think I need to start getting SOMETHING going again, walking, the Gazelle... heck,  might even take you up on the sit-up challenge!  Might help with some of my stress management, too.  And since I'm now a little over 6 months out from my hernia repair, I'm thinking I can go for it without fear of mucking something up in there...
