Lost my way

I am 15 months out from Lap Band and have gotten lost on my journey. I am becoming frustrated with myself. I have lost 68lbs since surgery and I feel great....BUT i am stuck. I cant get past this slump that i am in.

I had to stop going to the gym last fall due to my husbands work schedule as we have kids. I have just started back and hope that will help kickstart everything again. I used to love working out but now i am just so tired all the time. you would think after the weight loss i would feel better and have more energy but i almost feel worse! I have 2 kids and it seems like they take more out of me now then before i had surgery!

Does anyone have any tips that they have found helped them get over a slump? Im willing to try anything. I understand that the Band can have a max out point but there are people that i know who have had this surgery and have lost over 100% of their excess wieght within a year.

Please Help!

thanks!

Hello....I don't know much about Lap Band....but I want to encourage you to keep trying. Everyone reachs slumps at some point.

Sounds like you are on a good start with getting back to exercising. Are you getting in your vitamins and calcium requirements? How about B 12....that helps get your energy back up. Are you eating plenty of protein?

Good luck....you can do it!!

It could be the kids that are making you so tired, but it could be other things.  Are you eating more carbs than protein?  I went through a period where I too was tired all the time.  Turned out my thyroid was the culprit.  Doc put me on Synthroid and my energy came back almost over night.  Maybe get yours tested at your next lab work.

As far as your band...are you hungry between meals?  Do you feel restriction when eating?  If you are hungry and feel no restriction, it's time to get a fill.

Have you been in to have your blood work done lately? You could be low in vitamin D or B and that can affect your energy levels. Might also have something to do with this time of the year which will get better as we get more hours of sunshine. I don't think there is any point where we max out with the band with weight loss. That's part of the beauty of the band - if we find we're not getting full and staying full, we can get it adjusted.
The band is still there - maybe get into see your surgeon and find out what he can do to help you. Spring is a great time to get excited about it again and get ready for summer. You can do this!!!

I had RNY, but recently went to the Lap Band information session with a friend.  I was under the impression that banders could go back for life getting fills so that saiety would come back.

Contact your bariatric nurse or clinic to find out more.

Take care
