Has anyone had the stomach flu after surgery?

My oldest has the highly contagious Norovirus that is going around.  I was up all night cleaning barf buckets and the runs from the poor kid, he's sooooo sick!  2 yr old threw up once last night but is ok for now.  I don't think there is a snow balls chance in hell that DH and I are going to escape getting sick.  Especially since I only got 1 1/2 hrs of sleep and I'm run down.

Have you had the flu?  Do you vomit, if so as badly as you did before.  I remember being 11 wks pg with DS #2 and got so sick with the flu and vomited my way into the hospital for IV fluids.  I have a pathological fear of vomiting can anyone tell me what to expect if I do get it?  I'd sure appreciate it.  Thanks a million!

It is so weird but I have not gotten sick / vomit with the flu since surgery.

I had people over on Sunday and their little girl age 5 got sick very fast and vomited all over.   I talked to them the next day and the entire family got sick that same night.  I thought for sure I would get it then; but nothing.

Maybe it is me; but I feel more healthy now then before surgery.

Good luck - btw. most of the times moms don't get sick because we have to take care of everyone!

Not sure my reply is valid, because I've only RARELY had the   in my life.  But I did get other bugs fairly regularly - seems I missed Thanksgiving nearly every year because of some sort of cold or bronchitis issue.

But since WLS, I've not had anything take me down!  A few sniffles, a cough for a day, that's about it.   I believe, I TRULY BELIEVE, it's because of the vitamins & such.  Never took any before, have been religious about my supplements since.  And I've never been healthier!

Here's hoping you avoid the uckies!

I just got over pneumonia myself, but no flu since my surgery.  I've had to throw up a few times due to food getting stuck & I must say that getting sick post-surgery is must easier than it was pre-surgery (I'm one of those people that my body REALLY fights throwing up, but now post-op the few times something got stuck I had no problem getting it out).  My whole conversation sounds quite gross...sorry!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that you & your hubby don't get sick.  It's tough to escape a bug once it gets in the house.  We just got the 'plague' out of our house (pneumonia, strep, cold, etc)...disinfect your house top to bottom & keep washing your hands & taking your vitamins & hopefully you won't get sick!

Hey Melissa, didn't know you had been sick, I'm sorry.  I fight throwing up too!  I hate it!   Wyatt has finally stopped barfing.  Now if I can get Luke down for a nap in a hr hopefully I can take a quick nap.
So far I feel ok, knocking on wood!

Hi - I got some sort of stomach ick about a month after surgery.  Spent the whole night barfing and then dry heaving.  I had eaten some SF popsicles so that was what came up - I haven't eaten one since!  Barfing after surgery is just the food or drink - no acid, so it is not nearly as nasty as before surgery.

I hope you stay well!
