I'm in shock!

Last Wednesday my paperwork was submitted to Medica.  The plans was to go for surgery for March 18, which was my deadline because of my daughter's birthday in April.

On Friday, on my way to my PCP, I get a phone call from the WLC, saying that my surgeon and my PCP had been talking, and wanted to bump my surgery - if possible - to March 4th from the March 18th date we had already decided upon.  The reason being, my PCP goes on vacation March 20th, and wanted to be there to oversee my anti coagulation.

We all assumed this was a long shot - to get medical approval in less than 1 week - because I need to come off my blood thinners a week in advance.

I called Medica on Monday, and asked where my approval stood.  I was told that it was received last Wednesday, and they probably started looking at the next day.  The very nice customer service person said that I should hear a response by March 3rd.  I explained why this was a problem, my PCP would need to know by Feb. 24th if the new surgery date was a possibility.

The rep then told me to call my clinic, and ask them to call Medica, explain the cir****tance, and ask to have my file expedited.  So, I called Southdale WLC, and they agreed to call.  This was 1pm yesterday afternoon or so.

This morning, I went for my pre op class - which was bumped up on the odd chance surgery was bumped up - and the nurse told me to go and talk to the clinic.  I head up - had to weigh in anyways (2 pounds under surgeon's requirement), and low and behold, I AM APPROVED!

Not only that, but my surgery was scheduled already for March 4th.  That's next Thursday!  AHHHHH!  I'm so excited, and panicked!

Sorry about the long post, but I had to share my good news!

Thank you ladies.  I know time will fly by, I only hope that I have time to finish my projects at work, so they're not hanging over my head!
