I'm new here...surgery in a few weeks!
Hi, I have been a lurker for a while, but I am finally coming out of lurking
I am having WLS on March 15th!!! I can't believe how fast it is coming up. I just started this journey about 3 months ago. So far it has been fairly easy, got approved on the first try and I have lost 18 pounds total since starting.
I will be starting a liquid diet on March 1st. I am a little nervous about that and being hungry, but I think if I keep myself busy I will be OK.
Just wanted to say Hi, hope to get to know you all soon.

WOW!!!! I just noticed that according to my profile, I have been a member since 2003!!!! I think that was the first time I thought about WLS, but put it off because I was afraid.
Can't believe I first thought abou*****ears ago!!!! WOW!!!!
It took me 7 years to finally take that big step!
It wasn't until around November of last year, that I decided something NEEDS to be done & I am ready to take that step.

Thanks Melissa.
I am exciting and nervous about this, but the nerves is really about the surgery itself and the pain immediately after surgery.
I know I will be fine....forgot to say just today I had my pre-op done. Had a chest x-ray, EKG and lab work, everything looks great. Nothing that would put me in the high risk category of surgery, aside from the normal risk of surgery.
Also Congrats on your weight loss Melissa! 70 pounds WOW!!! That is wonderful

The excitement & nerves are completely normal. I'd be worried about you if you didn't feel them before surgery. You'll probably feel a rollercoaster of emotions leading up to your big day, but that's to be expected because of the unknown of it all. Just feel confident in all the research you've done leading up to your surgery, all your doctors have pre-approved you so you're good to go, and try to set your mind at ease about it as much as possible if you can. You'll have such a new & exciting life to start after surgery that the actual surgery will become a distant memory in no time!
I'm super excited for you & your big day! It'll be here before you know it!!!

Congratulations on finally taking the big step to go through with the surgery (even if it took 7 years lol)!
I just got my surgery date today, for next Thursday, and I know exactly how you feel. You're excited, and panicked, and nervous...need I go on?
Just know that you're not alone, there are others here feeling the same things, and we can help each other get through this.
Isn't it great losing weight, and knowing it's just the tip of the iceberg? In just a few months we will be so different, we probably won't recognize ourselves!
Good luck with your surgery, and your liquid diet. We'll both be on the loser's bench soon!

Take it for what it is, a way for your surgeon to do a better job for you. I was never physically hungary on the protein only diet and I did it for almost a month. Emotional habits etc are different. I was amazed that I felt more satisfied on my 800 calorie protein day than I did before on 3500 calories
Nicole, Good Luck with your surgery!!! can't wait to hear about your progress!
I thought about this 7 years ago, but decided I wasn't ready, forgot about it. Tried to lose weight on my own, which I did....but gained it all back plus some.
So here I am today :)
Prheitz ~ Dr. Drew is my surgeon!!!! Did you like him?
