Do you still measure?

I'm curious who here still measures their meals out..... how far out are you and do you still measure?

I have recently come to terms that I need to start measuring or I will overeat. I think I know what a portion size looks like but in reality.... not so much. Just curious what everyone here is doing!

Yes I measure Elena!

I'm 9 mons post op now... and I measure most foods that are not prepackaged in a container (like yogurts for example).

I am pretty good about portion size of protein (1/2 chicken breast, 12 shrimp, etc) but when it comes to other things I do try to portion. I have 3 sets of measuring cups. I bought tupperware from a culinary store that has measurements printed on the side so I know how full to fill it for lunches or snacks for work.

I'm pretty hard core about it because when I tried to do it on my own, and eyeball it I realized I was very easily eating portions above what I should be. My RNY pouch keeps me in check pretty well but its still easy to over eat. I REALLY make sure I measure when it comes to snack foods or keep my portion to what it says on the label for calorie/fat/protein counting... (like baked potato chips)....
I NEVER eat out of the bag after surgery... thats just a disaster waiting to happen for me! Calories really add up quickly with just a few extra bites of something!

Hi Elena,

I do still measure for the most part. The biggest problem for me is if I go out and order an appetiser. I tend to forget that in my measurement and will get sick. I am trying to just not even have a bite of the app these days unless that is my meal.

Good luck with your journey to Korea...how exciting!!

Two and a half years out and I still measure EVERYTHING....and track track track....I'm just too damn scared that if I don't I'll gain or stretch out the pouch....not something I'm interested in doing any more!!!!  hugs

Elena, I just curious are you happy with your decision of having the Lap band done vs. the other WLS?

I never measured from day 1 out of surgery and I don't seem to have a need to measure. My tummy pretty much dictates how much is enough and I know my "limit". My nose begins to get runny and I feel satisfied so I stop way before I'm miserable.

I am 14 months out of surgery and still losing, life is good!

I started a food/exercise journal day after surgery... or rather the day I got home from surgery 6-10-08.. and have continued... I measure everything I eat... when I go out to eat I am more likely to under eat, and take the rest home for another meal... I don't want to chance over eating and getting sick/stuck while eating out... yuck...

I measure at work, I have my measuring cups, spoons.... I don't care what people think... I tell them, I have to control my portion sizes.. which is true.. lol
and in my book, I write what I do for my workout and my weight when I weigh and yes I usually do it daily and no I don't let it effect my day..........

I enjoy weighing and measuring my food, I am in control of it, it no longer controls me, since getting the band...

for the most part I am free from good obsession, don't get me wrong I am not perfect.... but, from what I was this is so nice.. so great!!!

and I eat healthier...
and gosh I love the results...

thanks for the post Elena, you look great!!

Happy Valentine's

 Exercising again!, Life is good....

I am 6 weeks out and I'm no longer measuring.  I started out measuring and got an idea of what it looks like on my small plates and I use the same plates all the time.  I also have realized that I really can't eat much more then 1/2 cup at this time so I'm not super worried about it at this point.  I do occasionally check my guesses and I'm for the most part right on.  It's incredible to me that I have a plate with 1 cup of food on it and I end up getting two meals out of it.
