I am so excited I got my first appointment to do that first 3-4 hours of testing.  I know it doesn't mean much yet, but it is a start.

Excitement is wonderful, enjoy it.  As you gain knowledge, you will find paths for you start to open up.  Best of luck.

I have done soooo much research on this for a little over 1 year now.. I have gone to 2 seminars.  All that on my own, do Doctor documentation.  So I am excited that I now have taken a step towards what I think will make a better differnece in my life.

I see you did the RNY, are you happy with your decision?  I see they are now talking about the DS and that Sleeve.

If you have done so much research, have you compared RNY, DS, and sleeve?  How about the band?  The options make it important to do lots of research.  There are links on this website, and lots of others on the internet.  There are many books on the subject.

I chose RNY and for many reasons it was the best for me.  But I studied the options, and suggest you do too.  This is major surgery and you want to go in knowing everything you can about it!

I'm so glad I did it.

please don't make a decision on which surgery to have until you have thoroughly researched all the options:  RNY, Duodenal Switch (DS), VSG and LapBand.

Visit each board and ask questions.  You can also get some good information on the DS at

Good luck!

Thank you for the advice.  I have read but I am just one of those people that still really doesn't really know which one is best for me.. i know one of them is needed.  But the DR's did say that it's even hard for them to tell you which one is best for you.

Congrats on getting things started; it's so nice to get appts. done & behind you & then onto the next step!  There's definitely a lot of options out there, and each one works well with a person all dependent on their needs (both before & after surgery).  That's excellent that you've done your research, and hopefully while talking with more people about their experiences with their surgeries, talking with your doctors about which route they will feel with be most beneficial to you, and through your own reseach you will come to the decision that will work best for you in the end.  It's so nice to have so many options to choose from & it's great you've got the ball rolling & someday soon we'll be scootin' over to make room for you on the loser's bench!!

Thanks for the encouragement.  I take it you  are very happy with your decision that you did the RNY.  How long did the whole process take for you to get it approved from your insurance?  Did you ever consider the DS?
Hope to see u on the losers bench soon!!
