Yes, Like everyone else I am loosing hair. This normally would not bother me because I have a thick head of hair but It is coming out in large clumps, I have developed a bald spot and my hair is very thin now. I just don't know what else to do. It isn't slowing down at all,

Any ideas?
Any answers?
How can I start to build it up again?

Please help!

For me I also had thick hair, and Thank God because I lost a lot....But once I started taking the vitamin Biotin my hair loss slowed way down......Not sure if it was from the vitamin or not, but I wasn't going to stop taking it to find out.....

I took it in the morning and at night 5,000 mcg.....

Good luck, Kelly

I am right there with you Nikki!  It started about 2 weeks ago & is really starting to pick up (my hair loss).  I keep freaking out, thinking if it keeps coming out this much everytime I comb or wash my hair I'm gonna end up with no hair pretty soon.

I have been taking Biotin from the very beginning (post-op) but I was only taking 1x 2500 mcg pill a day.  I should try to up it (to the 5000 mcg daily) & see if that will help in the future with the hair loss.

When did you start losing it?  How long have you been losing it?  I've heard it lasts from about month 3 or 4 til' around month 8, but that can vary from person to person.  Mine started at 2 1/2 months.  I can't imagine losing this much hair all the time for the next 5 months...I definitely won't have any left.  LoL!

I hope it slows down/stops for you very soon!  And if I hear of any other suggestions/ideas I will be sure to let you know!

hair loss is very common with any surgery
You are just going to have to wait it out....mine was falling out from about ohhh 3 months out until probably 8 months out
it sucked but I expected it and just suffered....my hair was (and is) all one length so I was able to disguise any bad areas pretty well

some people get wigs and have fun with it....

good luck!!

All I can say is that it passes. I know that doesn't help.... but it gets better and the hair grows back.

Ditto on what everyone else said.  I always told myself that I'd rather be bald than fat!  I was never bald and didn't have to buy any hair at the mall.   But I would have if necessary!

Hang in there...

I had thin hair to begin with, from my thyroid issue.  I've been using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner for years, and taking Biotin for years - but I upped my dose to 5000mcg 1x/day post-op.

Yes, I lost more hair and hated the thinness of it, but I went to a layered cut to add fullness.  And told myself that losing hair was a GOOD thing, 'cuz it meant I was losing WEIGHT, too!!!

It does stop, and whereas my hair USED to be wavy, it grew back in pretty curly!!!  Whodathunkit???

Hi Nikki,

My surgery was a month after yours, and today is my 3 month anniversary. I was not worried about hair loss, as my hair is VERY thick and curly, and a tend to lose a lot anyway.

HOWEVER, it seemed a week ago after a shower I was brushing out my hair and had to clean out my brush THREE TIMES! I couldn't believe all the hair! Because of this, I'm washing my hair less frequently, and brushing it out even less. This week I flat ironed my hair and couldn't believe how much less of it there was, and how many fewer layers I had.

I had added Biotin to my shopping list for this week, as I am finally afraid of losing clumps if I'm not more diligant on my protein intake and supplaments.

Let me know if you receive any other ideas! Best of luck!

OMG...I'm right there with you and thank you ladies for suggesting the biotin 5000 I'm going to GNC to pick some out this morning!  I had my surgery 4.5 months ago and my hair is falling out in HUGE amounts, I think I've lost about 35% of my hair, which thankfully was pretty thick to begin with, but now seems lank and flat.  It is worrisome that in the shower I lookl down and the bathtub is covered in hair, then when I blow dry it the sink, counter gets covered.  I have to do something soon to curb the loss.

It looks like were all in a similar stage of loss/surgery date/hair loss....if anyone has any other suggestions please advise.
