Medic Choice question
I am going though the approval process for RNY and should be done with all of the requirements by March 22....does anyone know more about those of us who may be losing our state paid insurance by April 1?
I'm REALLY hoping it won't affect my family or my chances of having this surgery after going though all the hoops.
Does anyone know anything more about it? i have medica choice
Thanks in advance

Please check with the agency that administers your program. I am a social worker w/ a county social service agency but I am not a financial worker and they really are the experts on this stuff. If you are referring to GAMC it is my understanding that people enrolled in that program will roll over to a MN Care program through the end of their certification period. At that time paperwork will be required to determine continuing eligibility for the MN Care program. Make sure you read all of the literature sent to you VERY carefully. GAMC typically has no cost associated with it but the MN Care program usually has a monthly premium and will be discontinued if that premium is not paid each month. The premium can be very minimal as it is based on income. I do not know how this will aftect coverage for your surgery. You might be wise to hold off on submitting until you know who your carrier will be. If you get approval w/ your current plan but go onto another plan before surgery you will have to meet all of the requirements of your new plan before they will approve and pay for surgery. I had a change in my secondary insurance after my approval and I had some additional requirements that I had to meet before they approved my surgery even though my primary and original secondary had already approved everything.
