Looking for a Good PCP in the East Metro
Hi All-
I plan on having the DS this year (hopefully this spring) and will be changing my PCP too.
I live in Western Wisconsin and work in MN so an open to seeing a Doctor in the Twin Cities area too. I am just looking for suggestions from people who have a GP, a Nurse practitioner or a Physicians Assistant that they see and feel they do a good job of understanding your surgery (or trying too) and any special needs you might have as a result of your surgery.
I am hoping to have this figured out before I go in for my surgery, so any and all suggestions (especially if they are in the Stillwater, Woodbury, Maplewood area) would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks-
Aimee
I work for Allina and I live in Woodbury... I saw a doctor at the Woodbury Allina Medical clinic for an office visit when I had H1N1 there but he had very good knowledge about weightloss surgery as we chit chatted about diet and health and other things while I was there for my visit. I actually saw him twice by chance when I went back a week later when I was still not up to par.
I currently see someone else at a Minneapolis location of AMC.. but I am planning on switching to the Woodbury AMC simply for easier access to a clinic (its across the street from where I live) and I am planning on making an appointment with him. I liked him as a person, as a doctor, and because he understood my surgery. I don't think his picture is that accurate anymore?

I don't know where you are planning on having your surgery done though.. You may want a pcp that works within that same health organization as your bariatric surgeon does (for example Allina has several hospitals that perform bariatric surgery)... That way all your medical records are in one place for all your doctors to access? But thats just my suggestion.
I also don't know what insurance you have and what health organization gives you the best coverage or if you have to go through a certain hospital to have coverage for surgery.
