Ask her for information on the "easy way out surgery" I dont think any of us have had that surgery, wish I knew about it!! LOL

Also her comment doesnt really make much sense, if they are not overweight then they dont need to lose weight right??

Whatever... just chalk hers and anyone elses comments like that up to ignorance. You and we know the truth. The reality is she/they are just jealous of our "WORK".

Enjoy the choice you made, It was obviously your (our) only choice or we wouldnt have made it.

Kristie A: About your comment about surgery costs causing insurance rates to skyrocket - look at it this way....How many people have a baby under that insurance? How many people have had an appendix taken out? Or, how about having a heart attack, or anything like that?
The point is, that all hospital stays are extremely pricey. NOT having the surgery, IMO could potentially cost the insurance company WAY more than having the surgery. Trust me, they are NOT losing money - they never have & never will. There is a reason the insurance companies are paying for WLS - it's more cost effective for them. No more diabetes medications to pay for (just figure that one out over the course of a year or two & compare it with surgery cost). It's also why they reimburse people to go to a gym. Healthy people are MUCH cheaper than non-healthy ones.

Dharmacvt: That "friend" is worth a delete IMO. I've given up trying to get people to understand. But, the reality of the situation is this: Any of the WLS tools we are given will get us down to goal or as close to goal with minimal effort for the first year or two. After that, we must work at it just as hard as a normal person trying to lose that 10 or 15 pounds. Truth of it is, where that "bitter" girl is at right now.....WE were at 20 years ago!! You simply cannot explain 20 years of loss/gain/loss/gain and the hard work that was put into THAT to someone like that. They also cannot possibly understand that I would give my left arm to be just 15 pounds overweight and NOT have had to have this surgery!! I just don't think some people will ever get it....
