Lapband problems, feeling alone

JoJo, thanks for the invite to the group. It is really too far especially thru the whole metro...but I found here there is a meeting close to me in Burnsville. I really want to keep contact though. I am excited about my assertiveness about the doctor and a new one now...and my band seems to be working! Thanks for your words. Tracy

Would you consider a revision to a DS?  What is your current BMI?  Sorry for your troubles.  :(

(get an opinion at the U of MN)  Buchwald / Ikrammudin

Kathy, I have had two people recommend Buchwald and if I switch clinics I will go to him for sure. I am still working with my lapband, but if I can't get it to work, I definitely would try another surgery. I have found what success can be like and I like it! But my BMI is lower now that i have lost 45 lbs. It is around 30 I think. I wonder how that works...I know of someone who lost all her weight wtih lapband, then the band eroded into the stomach and had to be removed. But with her new BMI she wasn't eligible for another surgery!!!! Crazy. Tracy

That is crazy...  difficult situation to find yourself in. 

It took me a long time to decide (YEARS) in fact what I was going to do with myself after YEARS of trying and failing on my own.  (And, trying and succeeding, and subsequenlty failing) .

I decided after much research and reading, that other failed surgeries are converted to:  Duodenal Switch. 

I said, "Give me that surgery, the Duodenal Switch, off the bat, right straight away; rather than converting me later."

So far, so good.  :)

Keep an open mind, know what is out there.  Don't be afraid of the U of MN, Duodenal Switch, or revision to DS.  :)
