How long does this last?????
OK, not to beat a dead horse. But this left sided pain is so bad I can barely move around! It feels like someone is stabbing me. The gal at WLS said when you lose weight quickly after surgery the stomach shape changes and the stitches pull. It's very common.
Does anyone know how long this goes on?! My 2 yr old is home from day care sick and I can barely get up and down to help him. I'm feeling anxious like this isn't getting better it seems like it's getting worse. I just really want to feel better now. I'm trying to just push through it but am just really low today.
Can you tell me how long it took to go away? I will call the Dr's today too and ask.
Thanks for listening.

Tess-
When I was 3 weeks post-op I started having horrible stomach pains, like it felt like someone was stabbing me in my stomach everytime I even moved the slightest amount. It started with a slight pain & slowly got worse & worse until I finally had to call & go in. What they figured I did was that I pulled my stomach muscles & they gave me more pain meds & they gave me Diazepam (generic for Valium) to serve as a muscle relaxer (but you could be prescribed a different kind of muscle relaxer if you doctor thought that this was your problem) since we can't take ibuprofen. I put my velcro band back on since I had taken it off & wore it non-stop for a week & literally did nothing for a couple days (I mean I literally laid around with my sick daughter in bed for 2 days since everytime I moved it hurt so bad I wanted to cry) and with taking the pain meds & Diazepam as prescribed & laying around I started to feel better within 3-4 days.
Sometimes we start to feel a little better & we move around a little bit more than we did before & pull something & things just aren't quite healed yet. If you can, call them & ask if it could be a pulled muscle or if they think a muscle relaxer of some kind would be beneficial for you.
Hope you find some relief soon, I know how painful it can be!

I'm sorry I'm not familiar with your situation, but I agree with Connie-- definitely call your surgeon. Don't stop until you get an answer. I spent about four months after surgery going back and forth to my office, through a battery of tests to try to identify the source of my left-side pain. It was right below my bottom rib and was so intense that every muscle I had would lock down and clench. It was a stabbing, shooting sort of pain that I first noticed while I was still in the hospital post-op. It took about for months, but it about July I was diagnosed with nerve pain. They squahsed the bejesus out of a nerve between one of my laporoscopic ports and my rib.
A little bit of discomfort is normal after what we've just put our bodies through, but nowhere does it say that we should be in intense pain! Keep us updated!

I had the same thing.. felt like someone was stabbing me in the side - a searing white hot pain - couldn't catch my breath.. but only when I moved.
I used tylenol and a heating pad and wore my binder and that helped.
It got better around 4 - 5 weeks. I'm sure you don't want to hear that, but it will be better soon!

Thanks everyone! I'm relieved to hear I'm not the only one, though I am sorry you had to go through it!
Bottom line, they aren't sure, it could be any of the following:
Pulled muscle
Stitches that are pulling
They cut a nerve or nerve pain
Or Aliens have inplanted me with a chip and the Mother Ship is trying to call me home, we just don't know.
I did get some muscle relaxants that are nice So we'll see if they help.
TGIF, everyone have a great weekend. I was going to try and make coffee tomorrow but I just don't think I am up to it. Next weekend I had better feel GREAT and be ready to go.
You all rock, thanks!
