I am 16 days out of RNY and have my longer incision on the left.  I have horrible left sided pain that used to go away if I sat still.  But now it hurts all of the time!  I feel like someone stabbed me or shot me.  Just deep pain.

Luckily I have an appt today at the WLS Fairview.  Yes Christine, I mean it, I'll be there so come in and I will hold your hand while they pull your drain!

Anyone else get this mystery pain?????  would love to know.

Thanks Tess

Good to get it checked, but if it's near the incisions, I would guess it's just the healing/pulling on the incision area.  internal stitches maybe ripping a bit, doubtful it's anything to be overly concerned about.

I had the same left side pain that came about 2-3 weeks out.  I think it was do to me doing too much and lifting my daughter, who was over the weight limitations at the time.  Also, I wasn't good about wearing the binder.  So, if you've over worked yourself, lifted a bit too much and/or aren't wearing your binder any or all could be a reason you're having that left side pain.

Good thing you have an appointment anyway, and how nice of you to offer to be there with Christine for her drain removal!!

Yes Tess, I whined about the left sided pain at 2-3 weeks out too.  Seemed like the pain was below the longer incision, closer to my waist.  Worse when I did too much.  Seems I was struggling with constipation at the time as well.  I added benefiber to my crystal light to increase the fiber in my diet and ease the plugged up feeling.  Can't see or taste the benefiber.  Comercials for it were right.  Good news, it eased up after a couple of weeks.  Take it easy on your incisions, our bodies do try to tell us when we overdo.  Take care.

Dr said it is most likely stitches pulling.  Gave me more pain meds, which is the only thing that will touch the pain.  So now I just have to try and be patient and let it heal.

Thanks everyone for the responses!
