Does anyone go? I am thinking about attending, but I'm a wee bit scared to go....

I guess I'm just wondering how it is and how friendly people are. I've been one of those people who do go out much for a long time (always hated being stared at) , but feel its time to break out of that and start living life and meeting people who have walked in my shoes. But am still a little frightened of  the stare's and feeling out of place.

Thanks!

You will like the support group.  It is well-attended, have lots of welcoming people and the 1 1/2  hours flies by.

I encourage you to get out and make connections with people who are doing what you are doing.  There are people in all stages from Pre-Op to a few years post-op...

I haven't attended in awhile just because I have been working  on Wednesday evenings, but since I no longer do I plan to go to the next one.  I hope you'll make it out!  I made it out a couple before my surgery and the group was so welcoming.  There were people at many different stages, both pre-op and post-op, so they could offer so many words of advice as needed by anyone or just an ear to listen if people had stories to tell.  I think it's a great group of people & I hope your able to make it out in a couple weeks when they have the next meeting  (I'll be there)!!

I have never attended any of the WLS in the cities, but would like to sometime. It will be a bit of a drive, but I know the support would be very helpful to/for me.

Hi Comolaflor.
Please don't be shy, no one is going to stare at you or make you feel out of place, It is a good group of people, and they do not judge anybody  OK.
If you want to start with a smaller group, I highly recommend a coffee group.
My Saturday coffee friends are my main support group, and it has worked very well for me.
We meet this Saturday at Panama's in Burnsville center. People start to show up around 8:30 AM and stay to around 10-10:30 AM.
If you can make it this Saturday, we would all like to meet you.

Thank you!
I will try and make it to the coffee first, then on to the bigger group. That sounds like a great idea.
