The corner is turned...

Oh what a difference a day makes...  Vanish (Tess) is feeling much better after getting two units of high-octane blood last night.  Her Hgb had actually gotten down to 6 yesterday (not 8 as i had previously said) but she is up to 8.4 now.  She has had a shower, is feeling slightly human and even had the most incredible cream soup and vanilla pudding she has ever had in her life...  The French say "the sauce is everything" and also that "hunger is the best sauce."  I think this is the perfect example...  :-)

I can't stress enough how amazing Dr Benn has been in this process.  Many times you have surgery, surgeons disappear like they are leaving the scene of crine and you never see them again.  Dr Benn has been around every single day;  morning and evening and spent time with me after they had to change to Open and with Tess yesterday he was in and out checking on her.  He was even around at 9 PM last night and offered to go back in to look for the bleeder surgically if she wanted him to instead of waiting for the blood thinner to wear off.  Tess declined but he showed me a lot by sticking with his patients.

So she is still not ready to leap tall buildings but she is on the mend and is happy to be on the loser's bench!

Wow...that's a low Hgb.  Glad  she's on the mend.  I too have had my Hgb at 6.2  It's hard to even stay conscience let alone walk and try to recover from surgery.  Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.

Excellent!  You'll be losing buddies soon.   It is exciting.  This "blip" will soon be forgotten and she'll be doing just great.  Yay!

Glad to hear that you're both doing better.  What a rough start for both of you.  It can only get better.  Take it slow, now and enjoy the ride.  Happy New Year to both of you!  Karen
