3 months out on Wednesday
I'll be three months out on the 23rd and am just 3 pounds away from the halfway mark. I set my own goal, my Dr actually gave me ZERO input on where my goal weight should be so I set my own at what I consider a realistic weight for my age and body makeup.
When I started this journey into WLS I weighed 299.6, my PCP has my highest weight recorded at 300lbs. Two weeks before surgery I was 299.6, I lost 14 pounds on a liquid diet prior to surgery and I believe my surgery weight was around 285 (each time I've asked they say they dont have it on the chart???)
In three months since surgery I have lost approximately 48lbs...but if I count the two weeks prior to surgery I have lost 62+/- which means on average each month I have lost 20lbs! In the beginning my weight loss was so slow...I complained that so many others seemed to be losing faster than me, but the truth is we all just lose at different rates. By six months my sister had lost 100lbs, I know that there is no way in hell I will be able to match her loss, but I know that eventually I will make it to my goal.
I'm hoping that in 12-18 months I will be at my goal. It might be slower than most people but I'm realistic and I know that I am making the right choices in regards to what I eat. I still have trouble with animal proteins, but do well with fish, I do supplement with protiens that have carbs and I am not prepared to go into ketosis as a long term solution so I try to balance my foods and make sure they are healthy, organic and whole foods for the most part.
I have dropped from a 22/24 to an 18, and have been able to buy some clothes from the GAP...which is a bloody miracle! Even now, my size 18 jeans I bought a few weeks ago are feeling loose! I am down to 3 pairs of yoga pants and one pair of jeans, but I have a lot of tops to mix and match. the day I fit into a size 16 will be a big day for me! In the past I have kept my 'fat clothes' but this weekend I took a HUGE HUGE amount to Goodwill and said goodbye, because I'm not keeping anything 'in case' I get to 300lbs again!
I don't have a 3 month appointment scheduled because the clinic cancelled my appointment, so I will make one for the 3.5 month mark when the Dr is back from vacation. I hope by then I will be at the halfway point.

Thanks for sharing your progress! AND for the reminder that we al lose at different rates. I started strong and slowed fast. I know sticking to the rules and getting in the required activity will help things move at a steadier pace.
You're doing GREAT and we can't wait to see you reach your goal in your own time!
Keep it up!
Blessings,
Shannon

Good for you! You are doing fabulous. We all lose differently for many reasons. Just keep going and you will get there. All the best to you!

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY! Working on the next 25. Then I'll tackle more...

Congrats & the part of your update I love best is that you did NOT hang on to your old clothes! Too many people are held back by fear of regain and I'm glad you've got your mind in the right place early on. WTG!
Keep on moving & grooving! The end results will far surpass all your wildest expectations!!!

You're doing great! Now how come you think you're gonna be a slow loser with having already lost 48 in 3 months? I bet you'll reach your goal before the 1 year mark at the rate you're going.
Good for you getting rid of your fat clothes. I'm working on that myself, but have a lot to go through. I bought so many things, trying to look nice when I was over 300 pounds. Lots of stuff I never wore. Spent too much money to just donate them, so I've been trying to sell the good stuff on ebay, but it's a slow process. I still have 3 rolling "closets" in the basement, along with 6 -8 garbage bags of stuff to weed through.
Anyway, you keep up the great work, congratulations on your weight loss so far!
