Walking in a Winter Wonderland

What a beautiful winter morning!  I walked for about 2-1/2 miles this morning with snow falling lightly and the sun trying to poke through the clouds and clear the sky.  With temperatures in the low 20s I wore a fall jacket and managed not to shiver.  The roads weren't too slippery for walking, but the 1/2 " of new snow slowed my pace somewhat.  The birds and the icefishermen were out, both seemingly joyous, bordering on giddy.  Several of the dogs in the neighborhood woofed at me, then trotted back into their yards.   As I neared home, the tips of my fingers and nose were tingling and I could feel the chill on what must have been my rosy red cheeks.  My nose was running, too, but that hardly mattered; I felt great!  Two years ago I would have spent such a morning sitting on the couch, probably eating this and tha****ching the winter wonderland, but not partaking of it, not reveling in its beauty.  Walking outdoors in the winter isn't for everyone, but it is for me, yet another slice of life I can now enjoy in this thnner, more energetic body.

Nicely done, RP.  You are a different person in many ways. Great!

Well I had to work this morning.. up at 5am and out the door at 6.. started at 7....

And as I was driving around, and stopped at Caribou for a SF latte... I was sad because it was the kind of morning by the time I got to St Paul that I would have liked to take the pooch out and walk in the winter weather too.. It wasn't too cold out and it was that pretty, light snow that sparkled on the ground. It was very calm and serene at 6:30 am along Grand Ave and Summit.. if I didn't have to go to work I may have just parked my car and taken a walk myself.

I also recently dumped home cable and internet... and to my amazement I have kept myself busy and my tushy off the couch.... and I realized really quickly how much I was sitting around on the internet. I figure now, even if I have to go somewhere and use WiFi, I'll only be there a couple of hours.. and then I'm forced to go home and keep myself active.
Plus, since I don't have cable to sit down and zone out with, I've been doing my p90x workout videos religiously...  Making a huge difference in my strength and energy level.

My house is cleaner, more tidy, I feel less tired, and I am more active.

It's definately amazing how small actions, along with our surgery, have made such a HUGE difference....
