Bad stomach pains
Things were really starting to go good. My pain had subsided, food was being tolerated really well, and I was starting to lose weight. Then over the past few days I started feeling sharp pains to the left & below my belly button. The incision in my belly button has healed but all the skin inside my belly button has been red, cracked & bleeding. I've been putting some ointment in there & cleaning it out, but it's such a bad place to have issues since it's not really a place that's open & allowed to get air to heal. So, I'm not sure if I have an infection which is causing the pain on the outside of my belly button. It's so strange; the skin hurts to touch & whenever I move I get these really sharp pains like I'm being stabbed. It's not right inside my belly button, but a few inches outside of my belly button & to the left.
It's not a possible hernia is it? I have no idea what those may feel like, and I know that's a possible complication of surgery, so I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced a hernia after surgery & what did it feel like?
I plan to call into my surgeon's office when they open this morning to see if I can get in to have things checked out. If they can't get me in today then I plan to call my primary doc to see if he can get me in. I've been up since 4:30am this morning after waking up all night long since everytime I would move in my sleep I would get this horrible stabbing pain.
Would love to hear from any of you if you've ever felt anything like this before.

Obviously, checking in with your surgeon or PCP is the best plan.
But I've had a number (a RIDICULOUS number) of hernias over the years, and they really didn't cause me any pain except for when they were obstructed - which happened twice. More of a discomfort than a pain, certainly not stabbing pain.
Could be stitches being pulled? Adhesions? Hopefully your surgeon will be able to help you out without having to get too invasive...

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Thank you guys for all your well wishes & concern!!
I just returned from the doctor & found out I pulled some stomach muscles real bad & I have a yeast infection in my belly button. The doc said it's like when you sprain your ankle, except I 'sprained' my stomach.
I was given some ointment for the yeast infection & some muscle relaxers & pain meds for the muscle pain. Since I can't have ibuprofen the doc prescribes muscle relaxers to hopefully help bring down the inflammation & relax the muscles a bit (and hopefully that'll help with some of the discomfort). I also bought a heat wrap that I'm gonna put on my stomach while I'm resting to see if applying some heat to things will help a bit (another doctor suggestion).
So hopefully with all these things the pain will start to subside soon & I can go back to moving around without hurting (and hopefully get some good sleep again).
Time to get some rest...I'm exhausted!

I sure hope you start feeling better. You have had such a hard time of it. I guess I was very lucky with having no pain.
Hopefully I will get to see you at another meeting soon. Where is the meeting this weekend? I think we will only have 2 foster kids this weekend, Kesley and a 12 year old boy.
Take care,
Bonnie
