A little blue....24 days out from OPEN VBG
I am 24 days out and still sore throughout the day. I also had my appendix out. I am feeling badly as I cannot exercise yet. I walk holding a part of my abdomen as it hurts daily. It is getting way better but I am still too sore to bend or twist and its hard to get up and down.
In 24 days I am only down 15 lbs. And the part that is bothering me is that in 10 days, I am actually up .2 ounces. I realize its only point 2 ounces, but I am still UP! I am feeling like why did I do this?
Im going to list an average days diet to see if anyone has advice. I need to feel better about this and get out of this funk.
Up at 6:00
7:15am-- Bariatric Advantage Protein Shake in Chocolate Mint (22 G protein)
1/2 cup Prune Juice mixed in (only going every 5-7 days)
10:00am-- Reduced Fat string cheese (4 G Protein)
1:00pm--1/2 cup tuna with lowfat mayo out of a cup (13 G of Protein)
3:00pm--1/4 sugar free applesauce with 2 TBSP protein powder (8 G Protein)
6:00pm--2 ounce jar of chicken baby food and 2 ounce jar of sweet potatoes (4 G Protein)
Propel totalling maybe 45-50 ounces throughout day. Im trying to increase this.
Im still on a creamy type diet and am trying to add things.
How come no weight loss for 10 days?? What am I doing wrong? Is this a normal healing issue and delay?
Thanks to whomever can advise me.

Stop weighing yourself everyday - you're going to go crazy watchign that thing. You're either losing pounds or inches - you're probably losing inches.
I feel horrible for at least the first 4-5 weeks after surgery. It hurt like hell and I was on pain meds for 3 weeks or so. Your diet looks fantastic and your body is just trying to hold onto all the weight as long as possible - it's in shock! When you lose fat it turns into estrogen - which makes you moody as heck. You're probably going through that too.
This is all totally normal. It WILL get better!!! You're doing great!
Please spay and neuter your pets!
My daughter did take a pic of me on the 17th, a few hours before surgery. Every 17th, we are gonna get picks of me in the same clothes.
I appreciate your words. I dont know if I am losing inches. Some pants might feel loser but I got in the hablit of wearing oversized everything to hide my fat.
I havent been too emotional. I am very lovey and teary eyed at the littlest thing. Fortunately I havent been crabby or angry to anyone....yet??? lol
Thanks for the nice words! I hope you are right!!!!!!!

I completely agree with Farrah. I have actually gained 2 lbs since last week, but I"m not too worried about it because I have dropped another pants size and I know I wasn't able to get my water in as much as I should have due to a 2 day training. In addition, I was eating more convenience foods than I was used too because of the training. So, I know I"m retaining some water.
Also, I can't stress enough that you need to stop weighing yourself everyday. I do it weekly and there are times I think that is too much (especially now that I've gained and I didn't lose last week, which means that I'm at a plateau).
One thing that I have done to fight against the blues is I make it a point to concentrate on how good I'm feeling about myself (this was much easier after I wasn't in pain anymore) and I write 1 think I'm happy about with myself that day. Some day's it maybe that I really like my eye makeup, but it's still something good.
Good luck. And remember, this too shall pass.
I have a YMCA membership and my try to go this weekend. I know I am only 24 days out, but maybe if I just use the treadmill slowly, or the stationary bike. We shall see, I've been so tired and sore.
I used to weight in weekly, but for whatever reason, the dang scale screams at me to do it daily. I even do it again after I go ummmmm #2 (sorry TMI).
It seems daily my mind wanders to wondering if maybe my surgery didnt get done right or maybe he left my pouch wasy too big or maybe I just will be the one who never loses anything. Wouldnt that just be horrible! UGH!
Thanks for the nice words! I will try not to weight in til Tuesday (that was my weekly weight in day since my surgery was on a Tuesday.

Hang in there...it will get better!

It's better to be imperfectly happy than perfectly unhappy.
Of course, since I bought it, the prune juice kicked in and I have gone 2x now in 2 days.
Is Miralax something you take daily as a sort of staple now? Or do you use Miralax as needed?
What sort of dosing?

I was like you, so very frustrated, thinking that the surgery wasn't going to work for me, that I was going to be the only one that wouldn't lose weight with the surgery. I'm also dealing with constipation issues (pretty much as soon as I got home from the hospital). I've been taking milk magnesia but that really gets me going (sends me from constipation to bad diarreha). So, I'm going to go with Miralax (which was recommended by my nutritionist) daily and see if that helps get things going on a more regular basis.
I hope your pain subsides soon & you start to see some weight loss. It will happen. I believe our bodies are the same...they're holding onto the weight cuz' our body is freaking out right now. We go from eating normally one day to having surgery & then we barely eat anything. Our bodies are holding onto everything they can.
Things will get better, and what you're going through is totally normal. You're not alone; if you ever need to vent or wanna chat just send me a message, I'm here!!
