Hello everyone,

I just had my surgery on Wed and it went very well.  In fact, that day the people in at Abbott were saying that I did not act like a person who had surgery earlier that day.  I now am struggling with a very itchy belly.  I still have the "tape" on over where they went in (Lapband) and am wondering if it is normal to itch this bad?  How long does the tape usually stay on? Dr. Schwarz said not to let it stay on longer then 1 week, but usually it will come off before that...anyone have experience with this?

Also I don't seem to be feeling any effect from the lapband.  I am worried that I will eat too much and not know it.  I have been sticking to a very strict "soft foods" diet, so maybe because I am doing things right I am not noticing feeling full?

I am so concerned that I get this right and worried I am doing something wrong...help!!!

The tape made me itch too.  I developed little bumps that were there until about 2 weeks after I took the bandages off.  Maybe call your surgeon and ask if it's OK if you take them off.  I think it's normal.

Unfortunately I don't know anything about how the lap band is supposed to work..... check in with your clinic about how much to eat too!!

Hi!  I haven't had surgery yet, but I can imagine that the tape would itch.  I agree with Kenzish....call your doctor.

From what I understand (again I have not had surgery yet), you might not feel restriction until after your first fill.  I do know that for my surgeon, I will have to be on full liquids for 2 weeks post op and then puree foods 2 weeks after that before I even get to soft foods.  I know different clinics do things differently and you should always do what YOUR surgeon says, not what someone else's surgeon says.  But.....I would maybe take a close look at the information you received about your post-op diet and maybe even ask your clinic for clarification.  I know the first few weeks after surgery are all about healing so that your band doesn't slip.

Good Luck to you!  I can't wait to be on the bench with you!

Have a Great Day!!   Kirsten

My guys is one of the most "liberal" doctors i believe, and I know he is the most liberal in my clinic.  That said, I realized today that I do have some restriction when I took a bite, albeit a small bite but a bite, of  my kids tuna sandwich....nooo good.  I know the clinic is going to call tomorrow because I ended up throwing up and am worried now.  Anyone struggle with this?
