Just getting started

Im just starting the WLS process with Park Nicollet.  Im in the Lakeville area and I am 31.  I am looking for people to support me as a start this path.  It will be 6+ months before my surgery due to insurance requirements about supervised dietician appointments.

I have Fibromyalgia, Bi-Polar disorder, and a husband and kids...enough said about mental health issues!   LOL

Is anyone in the same place as me?  I need all the support I can get and someone who shares these issues with me would be great!

We are all in different stages of the process-some of us just starting out, some in the middle, some almost to surgery date and some that have completed the surgery.  However, we have all gone through the process and know what it takes to do it.  So, even though we may not be in the same area or stage, we are all here to support and help you with the decision you are making to take back control of your life.

Congrats on getting started and best of luck on your journey.

Hi there!

I'm Nicole! I'm one year out and down 133 pounds! :) This journey is fabulous!! :) So excited for you and your decision!!  I live in Eagan!!

My boyfriend, (T-Rex on the boards) had surgery just about two years ago at Park Nicollet with Dr. Svendsen and had an amazing experience.

I have a couple of suggestions for you...

1) Come to coffee support groups on Sat mornings!!  They are casual, informal and held in Burnsville and Eagan, alternating weeks.  This week it is at the Panera attached to Burnsville Center, we get there about 8:30am and the next week at the Byerly's in Eagan off of Yankee Doodle Road. People who are in all stages of the journey come and talk about our struggles and successes! It is by far the best support that I get!  As my friend Michael (TwinCitiesBear) says "if I'm in town, I'm at coffee". :)

2) Ask questions! Ask as many questions as you'd like! :) People here are fabulous and have great suggestions and insight!

Welcome!! PM me if you'd like more info about coffee tomorrow morning, I know lot's of people who are going, even if I can't make it (I have to work in the AM)!!

If God brings you to it...He will bring you through it!!

I would like to say welcome to the MN boards. I agree with Nicole try to attend a coffee group. I think that coffee is a great way to gather support regardless of what stage you are on in your journey.

Wishing you the best and perhaps we will see you at a Burnsville or Eagan coffee soon!!
God Bless, Angela

Coming to coffee sounds great but I cant do Sat mornings.  My husband works the graveyard shift and sleeps during the mornings and early afternoon hours and I have my kids.  Too bad tho...BVille Center is only about a mile from my house!

Can someone tell me what you eat after surgery.  Not just right after but forever.  Am I going to have to mush up everything I eat in the blender?
