I should SO know this.. since I'm 4 years out... but what is the best Iron suppliment to get.
My iron levels were REALLY low this annual visit (gee might explain my tiredness....)

So, going to go to the store, and need to get the best iron I can.. and some oj to drink it down with.

Thanks all...
Kris

I use VitronC.  It gives you the benefits of iron and vitamine c without any of the nasty side affects.  I get either at Walgreens or CVS.  I can't seem to find it at Wal Mart.

Well THERE'S a blast from the OH past -

HEY KRIS!
How are ya?  You sure look good, as does that peanut on your lap!  I think the last time I saw you post, she was in a pot of spaghetti?  Or a pumpkin, or some other place you wouldn't think of posing a little sweetie!

Hope you're doing well!  (well, besides that iron issue!)

I take the 325mg ferrous sulfate or ferrous gluconate with 1000mg of Vit C at the same time - every day.  My levels have never been high, but have been normal at least.  You have to get those iron supplements behind the pharmacy counter though, the ones on the shelf are usually just 65mg.

My doc prescribed me Ferrous Sulf 5GR... and I'm taking that with OJ & Vit C... so we will see...

I don't know what a normal level is, but I was told under 8 is transfussion time.. and my level is 9.3
The funny thing... about 2 months ago... I was SO tired.. tired all the time, and now I'm feeling better, so wondering if my levels were lower and now I'm coming back up...

How is married life treating you darling?
Kris

It's wonderful!  :-)

Hopefully you won't get too stopped up with the iron... I found that 1000 mg vit. C provides a good balance for me to keep things moving.  I wouldn't be afraid to take some extra Vit C if you find things getting plugged up.  :-)

I love reading your blog - hope things are going well for you too!!  *hugs*

My nut put me on Vitron C and it stopped me up like no body's business.. like major bad bad bad I thought I was having a blockage... Surgeon immeadiately took me off Vitron C.

My surgeon had RNY himself.. and he said he takes Bariatric Advantage Iron.. so thats what I take now.. no more constipation issues either!

Good luck on your search!

Stacy

Thank you Stacy... good to keep in mind.
My doc prescribed me Ferrous Sulf 5GR

I might try Bariatric Advantage after I get "caught up" on my level
