New Calcium Guidelines
Long time no post, so if you all have already covered this I apologize.
I was in for my 2yr post op follow up yesterday and met with the bariatric Dr and the dietician at my clinic. I love them both, they're so awesome and great to see.
In going over my labs and discussing supplements, because to this day I am still in the hunt for something that works for me, something I can remember to take or do, something that is easy and convenient for me.
I guess the new guideline is 1200mg a day is best vs. before it was 1800-2000 that they recommended. They are finding people who take 1200mg a day vs more have the best PTH levels and such. So that means just 3 Bariatric Advantage lozenges a day, that's not so bad. :)
Also, she gave me samples of the BA iron chewables, they are spendy but they are nummy! My iron stores were really low, probably because my multi doesn't have iron and I haven't been taking any, so my fault completely and I know this. Anyways, she said the BA (cadillac of vitamins for bariatric patients) would probably build my stores up the fastest. So I figure I might shell out the dough for a bottle, boost my levels up and then switch to Vitron C since it's less costly.
Just wanted to share the new guideline I learned about.
