To Biotin or not to Biotin? Artifical nails question

I went out and bought some Biotin, I figured since I swim for workouts and the hair thing I should get some.  But then at the Pre Op the Dr said it doesn't do any good! 

Anyone want to chime in on this one.  Some folks swore by it, so I'm torn weather I should go back and return it or just give it a whirl.

OH, and did you have to take off 1 artifical nails?   Mine are not long at all, couldn't I just file one down?  After years of cut to the quick diaper changing nails I finally just got them done, I'd hate to have to part with them.  Especially cuz it hurts to pull them off.

My surgeon required me to take off my artificial nails.  As it turns out, they clipped a monitor to my finger and artificial nails would have interfered with it.  But, I think I've heard of others who were allowed to keep their artificial nails.  I would ask someone at the offic of whatever program you're going through. 

Sorry, I dont know anything about biotin.  I ended up having my artificial nails put on again after surgery.

I had to remove one nail on a pointer finger for a monitor.   Just went out and got one new nail a few days after surgery. 
The acrylic does interfere with the oxygen sensor, even if there is no polish on the nail.

I made sure I asked my clinic before surgery and also checked with the hospital when they called to do a phone check in.  I did not have to remove my nails or take the polish off!!  Yippeee.
