There's No Crying In Deer Hunting

There is no crying in deer hunting....or there shouldn't be anyway.  This past Saturday afternoon found me in my deer stand, which faces faces north and overlooks a small field.  It had been raining and drizzling most of the day with a cold, brisk northwest wind.  There were no deer around, so my mind wandered.  At some point I realized that tears were flowing down my face and I was shaking.  I could attribute that to the wind and how cold I was, but that wouldn't be the truth.  Since I stopped eating for comfort I have developed a nasty habit of letting my fears and frustrations build until I can relieve them with vigorous exercise or an outpouring of emotion after a period of melancholy.  I guess I was letting some of my fears go because I soon felt better, more at peace.  I watched a flock of 100 or more geese fy overhead with a tremedous tailwind pushing them southward, honking wildly in their apparent glee.  I envied them at that moment, flying wherever the wind pushed them.  The clouds and rain cleared up suddenly , giving way to late afternoon sunshine, the field before me awash in golden light.  I wondered if it was a sign that I just need to let my fears go, to not let them rule my ife and sense of well being, so I, too, can stand in that warm golden light.
