Hurry Up and Wait

So my paperwork was submitted to Medica on the 10th and now begins the waiting game.  I came up with another reason to call Medica on the 12th so I could ask about the Prior Auth. but I hate not knowing. Is it rude to call often to check on the status on my approval.? The last thing I want to do is **** of the people in control. They gave me a deadline date of the Nov. 24th so I will for sure know by then but I pray it doesn't take that long. Were you calling often and how long did your approval take. Thanks

I too have Medica and i called every other day.  I just said Hey, this is my life and I just want to know if theres been any updates to my approval request.  They told me both times (1st approval was for RNY but my surgeon needed to change it to a VBG due to my Crohns) on the phone before I got my letter.  I even had them fax the letter to my office and they did, then the letter came in the mail 2 days later.

You pay for the insurance, they customer service people get paid to deal with customers.  Be nice when you call and they will help you....they did me.

 My paperwork for Ins approval went in on the 11th!  I am not a patient waiter   but what can I do?  I'm just trying to remain hopeful.  Let me know when you find out ok?  Good luck!

My paperwork was submitted on the 2nd and was approved on the 5th and found out about it when I called the insurance (BCBS) co on Monday the 9th. I had a surgery date on the 11th Once things get rolling they usually move fast.
