Pink and Warm as a Friend’s Smile

Daybreak has become my favorite time of day.  Even in November, the dawn sky often looks as pink and warm as a friend’s smile.  Smiles typically don’t last very long and neither does the break of day, yet such brief moments of warmth can carry you through whatever the coming day might bring.  In summer, I exercise outdoors around that time of day, breathing deeply of the promise and hope for a good day ahead.  As autumn turns to winter, I am usually commuting to work just before the sun slips above the horizon.  Before leaving for work, I walk in the pre-dawn dark, enjoying the stars, but still longing for color in the sky, a little warmth to start my day.

What is your favorite time of day?

The time that the sun is going down and the stars are coming out.  I like to watch for the stars as they "come out".  When I lived by the ocean I loved the sunset because the ocean took on the colors of the sky, had shades of grey and foam of white.  The sand was getting cool having a touch of warmth left over from the heat of the day.  (hmmmm....loved that memory just then!)

Thanks for the chance to reflect, but getting back to my favorite part of the day...yep...when the stars start coming out.

RP....I am with you on this...I love the dawn...especially the kind you have just described. You are lucky to be able to be outside enjoying it everyday. I don't go out in the dark and walk anymore but I do sit at my window and look out....just beautiful!!

Hugs....connie d

... my first sip of coffee in the morning (which for ME isn't NEARLY as early as you!)

... saying bedtime prayers and sharing talk of the day with each of my kids

... beautiful, flaming sunsets out my kitchen window

... bright, shadowy moonlit nights
