Health Partners
Hi everyone!
I am not new to the board but I have been lurking around. I have been reading a lot an learning from all of you. I am currently waiting to hear from my insurance company. I have health partners and they have had the paperwork for over two weeks. When I call there all they say is that they are still researching this. I was wondering if anyone else has health partners and how long it took for them to get approved. I am starting to get worried because it is taking so long.
Thanks,
Julie

Hi Julie,
I have HealthPartners. My paperwork was submitted on 10/21, the day after I met with the surgeon. My doctor called me less than a week later saying I was approved. My actual letter from HP was dated 10/23 and arrived at my house on 10/26. My surgery is Wednesday!
Best of luck and let us know what/when you find out!

I also had health partners...
They have 14 business days to make a decision. I heard 10 business days from the day they submitted my paperwork that I was approved.
If you've met all the criteria you're sure to be approved. My WLS office said they are one of the easiest insurances to approve if you met all the criteria.

Ditto what Stacy said.
I went through the process twice- I was approved for RNY while I was still researching the DS, and then re-submitted for DS once I was sure that was what I wanted. Both times, they took close to the max amount of time they have (it was about 10 business days both times, I think), but I was approved both times. One thing to keep in mind is that they count from the day they received it, which is the day they scanned it in. I think it sits around for a day or two before it's scanned, so it would be good to call and find out what day they have it as having been received. You can call every day to check on the status- they totally don't care as long as you are nice about it. I'm a little nuts, I started calling every day after a week. My surgeon also said that Health Partners is the best insurance company to work with, and he's been doing this for a VERY long time! Best of luck to you!
