protein bars...are they evil?

Are protein bars just glorified candy bars?  Can I use one as a meal replacement?

I tried a Zone bar the other day and it actually stayed down just fine, I didn't get the 'nauseated' feeling I get from the powders, I just cut the bar into 12 little pieces and ate them over a 30-40 minute period.  (12g of protein in one bar)....I picked up a few others to try, most of them are under 210 calories.  I figured 210 was okay for one meal?

I wasn't planning on eating one every day, but once in a while can it hurt?

Can someone remind me of the calorie/sugar ratios which make a 'granola or protein bar' a glorified 'candy bar'?

My wieght loss is still slow, I've been hovering in the 260's for weeks!  I would have thought by now I'd at least be seeing the 250's!  I lost 15 pounds prior to surgery which is included in my ticker.

I was 299.6 a few weeks before my surgery, about 284 on surgery day, 277 a week post op and and 5.5 weeks post surg I am 260 (I fluctuate up and down every few days which is confusing)...
I am a SLOOOOOOW loser.

Any advice for stepping up the WL?  I drink my 64oz, walk as much as possible, and eat less that 600 calories a day.

I really like the Supreme Protein bars - I get mine at GNC.  Granted, they're huge (3.4oz), but they have 30gr of protein an only 6 net carbs (if you can handle sugar alcohols) and 360 calories

I wasn't able to tolerate most protein bars until I was pretty far out - over 6 months or  more.  It really depends - for me the sugar alcohol was really hard on my system.  I ate a lot of soy nuts and cottage cheese early on, as well as eggs and tuna.

I used to eat several protein bars/week - just for convenience's sake, mostly.  As long as you can tolerate the carbs, I think they're fine.  Some are awfully high in carbs and calories, and having been diabetic I'm pretty careful with that, but if you need to get some additional protein in, I think they're fine.  Just don't rely on them for your nutrition.

Target used to sell the Twisted brand - the chocolate flavor was kinda like a Take Five candy bar, and I LOVED them!  But I can't find 'em anymore

Sam's Club has the variety pack (5 chocolate, 5 peanut butter, 5 vanilla) of the Twisted bars or I think I ordered them from Amazon once.

They are almost too good

Supreme bars rock! But yeah, in a way, they are all "altered" candy bars so if you need a candy fix, grab one of them instead.

Definitely lean meats and cheeses are the better option as you know.
