St. Paul Surgeons
I will be having mine on 11/17/09.
I had been scheduled for a RNY on 10/5 and 48 hrs beforehand it was cancelled. I was diagnosed with Crohns. Dr. Rupp got me back in and we decided to do the VBG.
I love Dr Rupp and his receptionist in St. Paul is nice. I have been thru 3 different nurses to get me initially going. Ginger, Rachel and the newest person, Gina. She is a little short and seems a little stressed or unhappy. Maybe just over worked?? I dont know.
All in all, they have gotten me approved for 2 different surgeries on the 1st try. They do their job. Wendy schedules the surgeries and she is very sweet.
I guess I will know in 13 days how the hospital and aftercare go!
Good luck to you!

I had my RNY with Dr Rupp back in August 2006. I was very pleased with Dr Rupp and his staff. Some of the nursing staff at the hospital were a little rough, but that happens everywhere i think? I only wish they had been more strict with follow up because I procrastinate...
Otherwise it was a positive experience. I have struggled through my journey but it is not a reflection on my surgeon or his staff, it is purely my personal issues that are making me feel like a failure.

I had my RnY a year ago this month (YEAH!) with Dr. Rupp! He was great!! I ended up needing a hernia repair and my surgery took 6 hours...but he kept it laprascopic instead of taking the easy way out and opening me up!! Giner, the insurance person was great in getting my appeal approved quickly. The staff has been great and I have had nothing but a positive experience!! Good luck!!
I had open RNY July 17, 2007. Dr Rupp is straight forward and honest. He did a wonderful job and I have had no complications due to surgery at all. The nurses in both the St Paul office and the Maplewood Office are wonderful. My only complaint...why did it take me so long to decide to do this. It was the best decision I ever made. The entire process was explained clearly from the information meeting all the way thru to my date of surgery. I highly recommend St Paul Surgeons.
I had my lap RNY with Dr, Kelly and I loved him.
He had excellent bedside manner and was very thorough and would recommend him highly.
However, when I went in for my 3 month post op they didn't go over anything with me, just showed me how to give myself a B-12 injection and I was disappointed with that. The woman who scheduled me for my 6 month said they should have had me talk to a dietician and stuff but it didn't happen.
That wasn't Dr. Kelly's fault though.
Everyone has been helpful. I didnt really care for Ginger all that much, she always took her sweet old time getting back to me about everything. Even though I understand that I am not her only patient, I would appreciated an acknowlegment of my emails/telephone calls.

I just had my lap RNY on Oct 20th with Dr. Rupp. I think he is an awesome surgeon and I also have a friend that went through Dr. Kelly who says the same thing. I have to be honest and say that I"m not really impressed with the some of the office staff that work there since they lost some of my paperwork and forgot to send some stuff into the insurance company wich caused me to get denied the first time I sent in all my paperwork. But other than that it was a positive experience.
