It's not a perfect tool. I hate this.

The last several nights I have not slept well.  All of a sudden it seems that my band is too tight again.  It's not supposed to work like this.  As time goes on, they are supposed to increase, not remove fluid in the band.  I don't know why, but I cannot even concentrate.  I will try my utmost to get in today...this morning if I can to get some relief.

The downside of an unfil is that I will probably be able to eat more.  Going on 7 years you would think that by now I'd have habits, routines, etc. down to a point where I would just go on auto pilot.  But the truth is that I still rely heavily on my band...but when it starts to cause misey I am forced to step up my discipline.

I'm still learning about my body and how to best work the tools I've been given.  It seems that it just keeps getting more difficult as time passes.

Hoping for some relief.

So I called first thing this AM...I said I need to come in today for a urgent adjustment.  The scheduler starts to argue with me and go into this speech about how I need to give them a heads up prior to coming in because their schedule doesn't always allow..yada yada yada.  I told him I just called you first thing Monday after a miserable weekend.  When should I have called?  Don't they get it?  I just did give you a heads up by calling...duh.  I could have just shown up.  Sorry, I am very much full of angst.  I get that way when I don't sleep.  I'm venting I know.  9:15.....I will be there!!!!!   Yeah.

Paul:

I hope they can get you properly adjusted right away.  This is undoubtedly a difficult day for you, but would it help you to know that your success in the face of the many challenges you have faced continues to inspire the rest of us (I am certain that I am alone in that regard)?

Take care,

Only eight more minutes until you find relief!  I hope you feel better soon and I hope the staff at your surgeon's office realize how irrational they were to question you this a.m.

I could tell you what revision you should have had...um, but I won't...

I hope you have a great day after the unfill, Paul. I cannot imagine the discomfort.
Do they actually unfill the band all the way though, or do they take out just enough?

Keep us posted what the office says...

Is it possible that your band could have moved and readjusted itself in a spot it shouldn't be at, rather than being a volume problem?
(ha ha coming from an RNY'er with limited band knowledge)

Sorry you're having an issue, Paul.  It's too bad there's no such thing as "PERFECT", eh?  No perfect tool, no perfect tool user...

You did what you had to do, and hopefully you'll find relief.  But remember - if the band gets looser and allows you to eat more?

JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN, DOESN'T MEAN YOU SHOULD.

Love you bunches...

Paul...I feel for you! I hadn't had a band adjustment in 20 months and was loosing. All of a sudden I started having a lot of issues (reflux, sliming, food getting stuck, etc.) so I finally went in to get checked out. I was told all about "slips" and what would have to be doene. They got me in right away to check things out under flouro and my band was fine. Go figure, huh... for whatever reason my band had tightened-up on me. Dr Lederer took out 1 cc. and I've been fine since then.

I have not really been able to eat more as I also feared that outcome. I found that it just relieved the problems, but has not affected the types of foods I can tolerate or myoverall ability to eat.

Here's hopin' you've gotten relief and there are no other issues going on!

I got in, had .6 cc removed.  I immediately started to feel better but also hungry.  I realize now more than ever that this is a life long effort for us.  It never was nor will it ever be easy.  If losing weight was the only issue in life we faced it would still be challenging.  But add things like age, strokes, relationships, jobs, kids, pets, neighbors, etc.....

I will say that friendship here and coffee there really helps to level the playing field in this journey.
