4 weeks and stilll cant hold food..
I'm out 4 weeks... and I still can't keep anything down. According to the doctor, I am supposed to be on pureed foods and cottage cheese and scrambled eggs and berries and various things like that. I'd be lucky if I can keep a glass of crystal light down without getting the foamies! I just wanted to know if anyone else it having this problem or has any suggestions. At this rate, I can't get any calories, protein or vitamins in and that can't be healthy.
I had a situtation much like you when I first had surgery. I had tried many different solution recommended by my clinic. In the end I had a stricture. Please advocate for yourself to have them check that out through a scope test. I had to go through weeks of trying different things while I just got more dehrydrated. Once the stricuture was corrected everything has been just fine for me. Best wishes
momma i been going through the same thing...im over 2 months out and havent been able to eat... you gotta get and endoscopy so they can see if there is a stricture. this past thursday i had an endoscopy with ditilation at the hospital.... its been a few days but i can eat better already... they say that the problem isnt uncommon from gastric bypass... gotta get checked out mammatz... i kno exactly how u feel
I will call the doctor tomorrow because this is crazy. I mean, I'm not expecting to be able to eat a cheeseburger or anything..but keeping something in my system would be good... I adid eat applesauce today.. Most of it stayed down. I have been vomiting soo much that I thought maybe that was just causing my stomach to swell some more and that was the problem... Somethings gotta give, not trying to end up in the ER for a second time!
I called his nurse and explained what was going on.. She told me that it was not an uncommon problem. I made an appt to see the surgeon Wednesday morning. I'm not sure if he is going to do a scope but if I get the feeling the he is just brushing me off then I will make the suggestion and tell him that I would like it done. Hopefully, I will have an answer in the next couple of days and actually be able to eat something other then liquids and applesauce. It's getting old really fast!
