Can you please tell me what the silent auction is for? Where do the funds raised from the auction go? Just curious - this is my first exposure to this event.

Hello! 

The Silent Auction is a fun way to raise money for the Gala. The money is used fully toward Gala expenses.  The Gala is a SELF-FUNDED event.  All expenses are paid for by ticket sales and if we get any donations, whether from medical sponsors, silent auction sales, volunteers, etc.

The Gala is an event to celebrate our lives. Often, it might be a chance to go to an event like the prom many of us never went to when younger.  It is also a way to celebrate with our new lives with our support people, and sometimes surgeons and medical staff who helped us on our journey, and we also meet other WLS people.
