Happy to be home!!
I want to thank Kelly for keeping you all updated and thank all of you for the well wishes and prayers. I am finally home and it feels good although I am coming down with a cold so that is not cool. I am so glad they could do the surgery. I did not know going into surgery if they could do the surgery because a prior surgery I had for a hiatal hernia left me with a nissan wrap (they wrap the top of your stomach around the top of your stomach and need to do a lot of stitching/stapling therefore damaging a lot of the area of the stomach needed for the new stomach). This is where the long part of the 7 1/2 hour surgery came into play. It took them a little over 4 1/2 hours to do that. Then they had to do the RNY part. There was a lot of tedious separation with scar tissue involved. I am so pleased with Dr Johnson with all he had to do that day. He is a very careful, kind, and respectful surgeon and anyone else that has surgery planned with him, you will be very pleased with him. I did have to stay longer because my hgb was dropping dangerously low and was close to having to receive blood. I got a later start with liquids because the day after surgery I could not get them down (to swollen) and I kept coughing up phlegm. That all stopped on the third day so I could start some liquids. My hgb finally started to climb out of the danger zone by Saturday night. Dr Johnson wanted to see one day of good progress of my ability to drink enough so that took Sunday, on Monday he had a early surgery scheduled and stopped to see me at o'dark hundred and said it looked good for me to go home but he would not be able to get bac****il 6 - 6:30pm to write all the orders. So I had all my bags packed and was ready to go when he came back!! Took a while to go over everything and get prescription filled, PIC line (special IV line) pulled then lay still for 1/2 hour for us to get out by 8pm.
So again thank you all for your support, prayers, and thoughts. I am on the bench and loving it!! (well kinda, give me a few days to adjust to this every fifteen minute water drinking thing)

Welcome Home, Donna!!! I love Dr. Johnson, too. He has such a sense of humor besides his wonderful bedside manner. I wish all doctors had that talent!!
My prayers and thoughts will be with you during the next couple weeks while you heal. You will feel better every day, I'm sure. Keep sipping and moving and it will go fast!
