Park Nicollet/Methodist Hospital

I'm going to be having surgery (probably next month) at Methodist Hospital.  For those of you who had your surgery there, are the rooms private or not?  Did they let someone stay the night with you in the hospital or no?

Thanks

The rooms are private in the bariatric area.  Care was wonderful - I had a great experience.  Good luck!

I had a private room... I didn't ask if anyone could stay but I believe they allow it.

The nurses were fantastic.. they even went on walks with me up and down the hallway.  The entire experience was nothing but positive for me -- and it was the first time I had ever had to stay in a hospital.    I would highly recommend it.  Who is your doctor?  I absolutely loved my Doc and he came in to checkup on me twice as well... I'd cry and hug him to death if I saw him now!

I appreciate all of your replies!

My doctor is Dr. Svendsen.  I meet him for the first time next Wednesday and then on Thursday I meet with the dietitian about the 10 day liquid diet.  I assume we'll be scheduling my surgery date on the day I meed the doctor.

I want my husband to be able to stay with me as long as they allow it.  We live 2.5 hours away from the hospital.

He was my surgeon too! I loved him... he immediately made me feel comfortable and explained everything.  He was very good talking to my parents (they were worried!) and came to check up on me in the hospital too.    He is my hero!!

I remember them saying that there were no set visiting hours, so I guess that could mean that you can have overnight guests.  I had a recliner but no fold out bed for a guest.

Yes, you will schedule your surgery the day you meet with your surgeon.  My surgery was about 5-1/2 weeks after my surgeon appt.  Dr. Jones had dates available earlier than Dr. Svendsen so I guess it just depends on how busy they are.

I just got out of there today. I second that the staff is fantastic!! I did have a private room, and my husband was welcome to stay as long as he wanted.
