I posted on the VBG forum but no-one is on there...my post yesterday is still the most recent post.

Just want ANY advice, support, encouragement from anyone who has done the VBG.

How mush have you lost?  What are weight loss averages?  Any links to site or pages where they tell of loss with a VSG?

I was just diagnosed with Crohns and am looking into VSG.

Thank you!

Cat,

I'm so sorry that it turned out you did have Crohns. It must be a huge disappointment, but I suppose its better to know and make the safest choice for WLS rather than if you never got the call and went through with RNY only to have complications later.

I don't know much about either, but are you looking into VSG or VBG? You listed both. Aren't they different? Are you trying to decide between the two?

Has Dr. Rupp done VSG before? If so, did you ask him if he'd be willing to put you in contact with some of his previous patients? Maybe he has some stats he'd be willing to share with you.

I wish all the best for you. Please keep us posted on what you eventually decide and your new surgery date.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the replys.  I am in the "waiting to hear" stage again.  Medica gave me the written approval for the RNY, but now need to wait for the approval for the VBG.  Dr. Rupp is very nice.  He seems to know his stuff.  He says he has done 120 plus VBG surgeries for Crohns patients.  I just wish that I wasnt cancelled 48 hours before my surgery.  That, to me, was rather lame.  I stepped down from my positipn at work and if they had given me even an extra day, things wouldnt have hurt so much.

But, at this point, I am thankful there is still an option for me.  I only need to lose 100-120 lbs to be at my high school weight.  I just need Medica to do their thing and get me approved!  I hope it goes smoothely and quickly.  I need to be healed up for the Christmas shopping season...lol.

Thanks for the nice words!
