Too gross to talk about constipation?

I'm two weeks out and am starting to slow way down in my 'production'. I don't feel bloated yet or anything but I've gone a couple days now without a movement....Can I or should I take some kind of liquid diaretic?  Like Citrosil? (Sp?) - or is that a no- no.

There is definitely an adjustment period where the ol' bowels are concerned, but you would be wise to consult your surgeon to get his recommendations.

At almost two and a half years out, I eat 2-3 prunes every morning to keep the motor runnin'.  But being only two WEEKS out is a different deal.  I would guess he'd recommend something more along the lines of Milk of Magnesia or Colace...

You don't want to let it go too long...

I've never tried prunes or prune juice.  Can't have the prunes now anyway - so maybe I'll try some of the juice -just heard it's REALLY sweet and I'm really not into sweet stuff much. But it's worth a shot at this point! (cute icon by the way...haha)

Call the doctor before you do anything.

I because there is so little in your bowels it seemed like days before something would happen. It is strange to go from 2 a day to every 3 or 4 days but the further along you are the more often you go. Being almost 2 years out it's more like once a day or every other.
But as Farrah said if you are experiencing any discomfort or pain consult your doctor .

Call your surgeon, and ask about taking Miralax. It is OTC now, and works great, but make sure it is okay with your surgeon before you try anything.

I had that happen several times. I now take Benefiber, eat Flaxseed and sometimes take X-Lax to get things moving.

By the way, if you want some help on your avatar, send me the picture to [email protected] and I can resize it for you so it doesn't look so tiny. :)

Since you're only 2 weeks out probably don't worry about it too much.  If you're concerned, call your surgeon's office.  He/She would be most qualified to address your concerns in this department.  You should be drinking a LOT of water anyway and it does slow down quite a bit.  I used to be one of those people that would "produce" once or more PER DAY pre-surgery and that sucked.  I'm so happy to not have to go to the bathroom all the dang time!

I "produce" maybe once or twice a week.  It's normal.  It seems like there's one or two days where I "produce" a lot and then go a week and a day without anything.  Nothing hurts and I don't feel bloated so I figure it's all okay.  You eat so little now that it takes a while to build up anything to "produce".

I've found that I LOVE love love fruit and often will eat 2-3 prunes per day.  It satiates my fruit desires and also takes care of some of the constipation.
