Chocolate Whey Protein Powder
Ready-To-Drink shakes may be a better option for you immediately post-op. They are already mixed and smooth. I know they are more expensive, but initially, they are worth it IMO. Remember, the volume you can drink immediately post-op is NOT what you can drink now either. So, those RTD's will last you a while, too.
But, if you insist mixing your own, get yourself a GOOD protein powder. If you like chocolate flavor, try the Champion Whey chocolate. Then mix with either the bullet blender or one of those handy dandy little handheld blenders ****A sells a great one for about 2 bucks!!!).
Also, remember that if you're ordering vitamins or other from www.vitalady.com - she carries most protein powders & flavors in sample sizing, so that is an excellent way to try many without the big investment of a whole container.
Another good flavor is the Matrix brand orange cream. Think of a frozen dreamsicle, and that's the flavor.
If you read Eggface's website, you'll notice she had a lot of issues with protein powder and her recommendation is one that some GNC's carry. Check her website for the details.

Good luck finding what works for you, because I'm pretty sure most of us could like one, and the other won't. Seems so individual. But, try the RTD's - I think you'll find them nice and smooth (EAS has a good one!).

Go to the RNY board and look for a post from Cleopatra_Nik. In her signature line she has a list of GREAT protein shake recipes and tips.
It really helped me to get creative and at 5+ years out I still drink protein everyday. I make a vanilla and a chocolate creamer for my coffee, a protein chai tea mix and a protein cinnamon hot chocolate mix. My wine rack is now used to store my sugar free syrups.

Some coffee shops will sell you their syrups, but a lot of grocery stores now carry them as well - look right by the coffee display.
I know World Market sold some before they tanked, and I would guess Trader Joes might?
You can also find them online. Some people are very particular about brands - me? Not so much. GOOD LUCK!

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
I don't think anyone mentioned this -- but get yourself a blender bottle! I wish I had one of these before I bought a Magic Bullet or immersion blender.... You can find these at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. Vitamin Shoppe also carries tons of good protein powders (better than body fortress since thats a blend and not pure whey protein isolate)
I make all my shakes in these, shake a few times and add ice... the little blender thingie inside does a great job of removing the clumps.
I mix most of my shake with a combination of cold decaf and soy slender and some SF hazelnut syrups. You can add lots of different protein flavors to that -- I use Body Fortress chocolate or cookies & cream, nectar latte cappuccino, dymatize cafe mocha, nectar chocolate truffle, matrix vanilla -- they all work great.
I also like to mix my fruits one with Diet v8 Splash and water. I add some SF orange jello and a scoop of isopure zero carb banana/pineapple/orange and its pretty yummy.
You just have to play around a little to figure out what YOU will ilke ---
