So.... Here I am getting started on this journey again.... Over a year ago I was in process of doing a 6 month diet to get lap band when my company was bought out and we switched insurance and they EXCLUDED WLS!!!!!  How AGRIVATING!!!!  But now on January 1st we are switching insurance again and it will now be covered!!!! WHOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!!  AND I don't have to do another 6 months of diet!!!!  So now I will be doing my Psychological Evaluation on Oct 27th (which I failed :( last year) and doing what I need to so that we can submit to insurance on January 1st!!!!!!

I am so excited to be on this journey again... and after going to swapkins last week with my wonderful mom (who is one year out on her band and an inspiration everyday) and meeting so many wonderful people who have inspired me as well....I want to thank everyone for showing me that we are all worth it!  And that I wont be in this alone!!!!!

I am sure I will be leaning on you all for some advice in the future... so thank you in advance!!!!

And for anyone out there who may be discouraged because their company excludes WLS... there is always a chance with enough support that they may change it!!! I work for one of the largest employers in the US.... and it took alot of complaining from alot of people.... but it is proof that it can change!!!!!

Good luck to everyone and keep up the good work!

Good for you!  Glad to hear you have another chance with the surgery.  Sometimes, when we least expect it, things do change for the better.

Congrats on getting started again.  I went through a similar situation.  I went through the process of trying to get approved when the surgery was an exclusion from our policy.  I tried and fought the battles but did not win.  Then last December my company was sold and the new company said they were not going to provide insurance and when they found out that I would leave if they did not have insurance, they offered to pay for my insurance (I'm the only full time employee) and the state of wisconsin has a policy that anyone can apply for if your employer drops the insurance coverage or the new employer does not offer insurance.  The new policy covers everything but very high deductible.  So I am scheduled for surgery on Oct. 21 and very excited!!  I am sorry I did not meet you at Swapkins on Saturday, I was there!!  Good luck to you in your journey this time!!
