Anyone Use Dr Benn at Fairview for RNY?

 Awaiting next appt at WLS Fairview, 21st next week.  Then hopefully onto the Ins Approval as I've done all of the steps.

Just wondering if any of you went through the Fairview Office.

I did.. he is a wonderful surgeon and a very kind man.  He does a very good job of explaining things to you.  Don't be afraid to ask him any questions...

I had Dr. Benn as well and EVERYONE  there is AWESOME.  They answer any questions you have.  Good luck and keep us posted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am also a success story of Dr. Benn.  He was great as were all of the support staff.  I also found that he was named one of the top doctors by his peers in a pole for Mpls/St. Paul Magazine.  That helped me to decide.  Best of luck to you in this exciting journey.

I had Dr. Benn also, and he was great.  I really, really was impressed with him and the office staff at the Fairview program, and the hospital staff there.  The nurses who cared for me in the hospital were absolutely fantastic - I couldn't possibly have had better care.  I would highly recommend the Fairview program.

I was originally going for RNY through Dr. Benn.  I really liked everyone I dealt with there, especially Dr. Benn.  Had I continued on the RNY path, I would have stuck with him.  (Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Dr. Buchwald and am thrilled with my choice of procedures and surgeons!)  I'm pretty sure I have an incisional hernia already, and depending on how comfortable I am with who the U recommends when the time comes to fix it, I may go back to Dr. Benn for that (hernias are a specialty of his.)  I'm sure you'll really like their program.

 Wow, thank you everyone.  I am so happy to hear that you had such a good experience.  Dr Benn did a surgery for me 6 yrs ago, small benign cyst, no big deal.

The hospital now has a specialized wing you go to recover in after your surgery, for your two day stay.   Was it in place at the time of your surgeries?

I'll be happy when I finally get my surgery date!

Hi there!  I am a Dr Benn paitent.  I really enjoyed him as a surgeon.  Extremely knowledgable and really cares.  Never been happier.  I had the surgery 14 months ago and they had the specialized rooms for GB patients.  Good luck with your journey!  Ask all the questions you want!  We are all here for you!  Come to a Saturday coffee!

It certainly has been a journey for me losing all of my weight!  I haven't had any real complications which I am completely thankful for!  I am totally satisfied that I decided to go through with this.  I chickened out three years ago!  Now, here I am 190 lbs lighter and feel 50 years younger and I am only 38!  The GB rooms at Fairview are singles and quite nice.  The staff is top notch in my opinion.  Not perfect, but with today's budgetary restricitions on hospitals, I'd say it was one of my best hospital stays. 

Saturday coffees are hosted around the Twin Cities at various coffee shops.  To put a plug in for the ones I go to....There is one every other saturday at the Panera in the Burnsville center.  We meet around 8:30.  THIS coming Saturday will be there.  On the opposite week is one in Eagan at the Byerlys Caribou at Yankee Doodle and Pilot Knob.  Starts at around 8:30.  There are alos ones in Maple Grove, West St Paul, Roseville, now Oakdale, Minnetonka(?).  You are more than welcome to join us this coming Saturday in Burnsville.  I will for sure be there and would be happy to answer any questions you have.  It is a great group of people and I know I would have NEVER been as successful as I am not without the support.
